How deep can this detect metal?

It all depends on the size of the target being detected.  There is no one answer to say a detector will go "X" amount of inches or feet.  The size of a target being detected plays a huge factor in how deep a detector(s) will detect it.  There there are things such as your settings, headphones/no headphones, is the coil close to the ground, mineralization and other stuff that also can increase or decrease your overall depth.  For the most part, this detector will find coin sized targets from the surface down to potentially a foot deep, maybe deeper with a larger searchoil or areas with very ground mineralization.

Question 2

Getting a warning sign on the metal detector and it’s constantly beeping when on. I’ve unplugged the coil and plugged it back in.

If the ‘warning sign’ mentioned in question is a triangle with an exclamation (!) inside, then this is not an error but an indication that the detector has sensed an overload condition and reduced the transmit power. Typically this can occur if the coil is above a substantial metal object such as a manhole cover (or powered on indoors).

The triangle does not indicate a fault.

When using Beach Mode the detector automatically senses black sand and reduces the transmit power to ensure that targets can still be detected without overloading occurring. When black sand is sensed, the Beach Overload Indicator will appear on the LCD. When this icon disappears, full transmit power automatically resumes. The icon can also appear when beach detecting and the coil is passed over a substantial iron target such as a drinks can. When the coil is moved away from the target the icon will disappear after 30 seconds or so.

With the detector outside and away from sources of EMI, power the detector on with the coil attached.
Perform Noise Cancel
Set Sensitivity to a level that makes the detector quiet.
(the detector would typically be quiet with sensitivity set to 15-20)

The detector will be noisy if powered on indoors, which contains high concentrations of EMI.

Will this Detector be able to Detect Gold coins?

Absolutely! Just not the best for small Gold flakes. The equinox is better suited for that being it has 20hz and 40hz settings. This is probably my 8th detector it is awesome. Small learning curve with ID numbers. Hope this helps!
