DSL to Tablet Internet Connection Is Simplicity Itself
Since I have only a DSL connection (Ethernet RJ45) at home, I was looking for an alternative to having to go to a public WiFi location. One option would be to get a router, but that is more complicated. I wondered whether it would be possible just to connect the DSL Ethernet RJ45 to the Micro USB input on my Chromo Android 4.2.2. tablet. I read a lot of contradictory information about whether this was possible. However, I purchased one of these Smays connectors and everything worked perfectly! It is simplicity itself. Simply connected your DSL Ethernet RJ45 jack (male) into the Smays connector and plug the other end into the female Micro USB port on your tablet. There are only two simple requirements for this type of connection to work.1) Your Android tablet and its operating system must support an Ethernet connection. Some do, some don't. To check, go into the native Settings app on your Android and turn the "Wireless" option on. Under that option, select "More." Alternatives other than WiFi that are supported by your Android will be displayed. If "Ethernet" is included in that list, your tablet supports the simple kind of connection that I have described with the Smays adapter cable.2) You must have a female Micro USB port on your tablet. Almost all do. This port is used with a power cable to charge the tablet and with a USB/Micro USB adapter to exchange files between your tablet and your computer.Of course, when you have your DSL connection attached to the Smays adapter cable, it isn't attached to your computer. If you wanted both to be connected to the internet at the same time, you would have to use a router. An inexpensive router (Netgear seems to be the best) starts at $30 and involves some setup. So, if you want to be connected to the internet only occasionally to download files to your tablet (like TXT or PDF files to read, or MP3 files to listen to), the Smays adapter cable is an inexpensive and easy option.

Perfect for an RPi0
I wanted to try running Pi-hole on a Raspberry Pi 0. Due to the size, the Pi doesn't have an onboard NIC and I didn't want something as important as DNS to rely on a wireless connection. So I ordered this adapter. Kind of uncommon to find a micro-USB to Ethernet. (USB A or C to Ethernet are more common.) I plugged it in, loaded Raspberry OS and was off and running. Easy install - it was detected automatically. Reliable - I've had it up and running for all my DNS/DHCP needs for a couple months now and I haven't had a second of downtime. Great product, great price.

Great solution for Pi Zeros
Pi Zero boards do not come with ethernet ports but has built in wireless. I try to minimize my reliance on wireless to keep bandwidth free for other devices if I can. I bought each of my Pi Zero one of these and have been impressed. My Pi run essential networking software so they run 24x7x365. These adapters do not get hot, do not go down or miss pings. Very reliable.

Works with Acer W3-810-1600 Win 8.1 8" tablet
Works with my Acer W3-810-1600 Win 8.1 8" tablet. It did not recognize and install the device when I initially plugged it in, but it seemed to install before I was able to click Update Driver in the Device Manager.I'm getting 10 ms/6.47 Mbps down/5.76 Mbps upload speeds on my tablet vs 7 ms/27.68 Mbps/5.86 Mbps on my desktop, so the USB dongle seems to limit my download speeds but it still seems good enough for me.I did try using in with my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, but as I expected it did not work. The phone saw a USB was connected but it continued to use 4G. I've read elsewhere that ethernet drivers are not installed.I'll try to update this review with compatibility with my old Motorola Xoom (once I find it) and with my Samsung ATIV 500T (once I receive my USB A Male to Micro USB Female Adapter),

It kind of works.
My Wi-Fi is not that great so I bought this to use with my older Tab A. Initially it worked great but as time went by the USB connector starts to get wobbly and the connection to the internet becomes unstable. That's why I only gave it 3 stars.

Does nothing
I don't know what the manufacturer is thinking, but this product did nothing at all when hooked up to an ethernet cable and the device I was hoping to connect to the Internet.

Stopped working after 10 months but buying again
I am buying it again after 10 months. It just stopped working and can't imagine it's still under warrenty. It looks like it's really the only choice for all the features. It worked well as an RJ45 connector to my Nexus 10 (wifi only) as well as providing USB support (including wireless keyboard and mouse). My Nexus 10 is rooted and running Stick Mount app so this may be why it works. Now that I think of it I did use the USB ports with my Galaxy S5 which is not rooted (it's AT&T). The RJ45 connection didn't work with the phone, just the tablet.
