Great for the little 'manipulatives' at home!
My 5 year old was delighted to play with this set. There's a nice variety on offer which has kept him entertained most mornings this past week, making numberblock figures and making amazing creatures out of the pattern blocksThe set comes in a plastic bag which in turn contains multiple bags with each 'manipulative' type in its own bag. Being critical, there's a lot of plastic bags here I'd have rathered seen these come in a box or something a little less wasteful. Also the instruction manual was bent given the lack of packaging. In the set you get: some base 100, base 10 and base 1 blocks for doing counting up to 1000; some Cuisenaire rods; some snap cubes (similar to their Math Link cubes but with a different connector type); pattern blocks which can be used to make bigger shapes; colour tiles and a geared clock (where if you move the minute hand the hour hand also moves). My 5 year old loved the pattern shapes, as there were enough of them to make some intricate shapes (see his insect he made in the pics) and also loved the snap cubes (as he loves Numberblocks and gave him an opportunity to make some shapes). I did think the colour tiles though we're a little basic even for Key Stage 1... I wasn't comfortable giving the set to my younger child though with all the small bits. The activity guide wasn't used in favour of using his imagination but there looked like some interesting exercises you could do in there.Overall £28 seems a lot to pay for some plastic and foam, but individually you can pay quite a bit for some of these items in isolation and may get far too many pieces whereas this set is just right for solo play. My son certainly has enjoyed using it so on that basis I recommend.

Perfect for 1st time home ed parents
As a home educating parent I am always looking for new ideas to keep my son's mind well fed with learning and this pack offers great value for money.Fortunatly this pack comes with a very indepth instruction manual, explaining the use of every single piece of kit ,base 10 blocks and cuisener blocks were once unknown words to me. This kit will also help parents grasp a understanding of what their children are using and learning at school and be used as part of home educating while keeping up to date with the kit used in schools. The units themselves are very well made, nice and bright colours used to capture a childs attention and very sturdy units perfect for smaller hands to pick up and manipulate the blocks /sticks `

Fantastic resource to help my 7 year old
Love the learning resource products and this is a welcome addition to our collection. My, just turned 7 year old daughter has fallen behind in maths so we do extra activities with her at home. This set has proved invaluable in giving her a visual aid, especially when it comes to her larger subtraction sums and being able to show her the tens, breaking down in to units. It just wasn’t sinking in before. She is in year 2 and has started learning to tell the time and this clock is the same one that they use at school so very useful. Also, very handy to have for completing homework tasks!Highly recommend for key stage one maths!

Great for teaching maths
I thought this would be brilliant to use with my 6 year old who needs a little bit more help in her maths. It was a good decision as this pack is very good and very useful. She especially loves the snap cubes. She loves to make the tallest tower she can then count all the cubes to see how many it took to get that high. The clock is great to start teaching her how to tell the time. A very good set. Even my 4 year old loves it. So many uses.

Good variety of educational activities
I've been meaning to get more educational toys when my niece and nephews stay as they get bored and I want to keep their brains busy. They also are really keen to learn and impress, and this set has been so fun to use with them so far. They are a mixture of 3, 5 and 8, and even my older niece is quite happy to engage.Pros:• A good variety of educational toys included• Instructions with ideas on where to start with activities on "manipulates"• Nice, soft foam pieces• Perfect for visual thinkersCons:• Quite pricey• Would be nice if there was storageThis set came well packaged with lots of little plastic bags. I wasn't really sure what all the bits were for, so it's good it comes with ideas and instructions on what to do with them. It's all about your imagination with this really. It may not seem like much but the rods in particular are really useful for teaching things like fractions, although they're not that exciting to look at.The colour tiles and pattern blocks are great for teaching mixing colours, names, shapes etc, and also for the basics of maths. Plus ordering and grouping objects too.The base ten blocks seem a bit overcomplicated for my liking but this is all approved so it's probably something I need to just get accustomed to doing with them. All in all, if you're familiar with your child's learning this is great. If you're like me and looking to help educate your nieces and nephews, it's a bit more daunting but you've got plenty to learn and do with them.Overall, recommended but quite expensive, with small parts and would be better if it had some sort of plastic case to keep it altogether.
