Lyman Products Brass Smith Reloading Powder Measure
I am very pleased with this powder measure.I own 4 other powder measures, mostly made from polymer or plastic. This is my first of this type.I wish I had purchased this powder measure long ago. This is everything you could want and more.I have loaded 357 magnum and 45 ACP so far and the measure is right on every time. The quality is great and easy to use.I have nothing but good to say about this powder measure.I also have the Lyman all American 8 press which is my favorite press.I like Lyman products and plan on buying a second Lyman powder measure so I dont have to reset the powder measure when I go from 357 magnum to 45 acp.Maybe I am just Lazy.As some videos show clean the entire unit of the oil and grease it is shipped with to avoid rust.I used engine degreaser to clean the unit.

Excellent scale, great value for the money.
I needed a new powder measure to replace my old Lyman #55; after only 35 years of use the internal drum doesn't make a tight enough seal within the body, and getting consistent drops with very fine grain powder like Accurate #5 was simply impossible. When I saw this Lyman going for Amazon's very low price I had to try it. I'm really glad I did. Adjustment is much simpler than on the #55 - instead of a tiny slide on top of a small slide on top of the main slide, you just pull out the single slide and make fine adjustments by turning the slide body micrometer-style. One thing that I had to adjust to: this measure fills with the handle DOWN, and drops the charge with the handle in the UP position, the opposite of the old measure. It's not a criticism, and if I hadn't been using the #55 for 35 years I would just assume it was normal. But you do have to keep in mind, if you want to check an adjustment, to dump the charge that's ready to drop because it's from the OLD setting and draw a new one.The function is terrific; the handle turns so smoothly you would think it's on roller bearings. And, the important part: it's extremely accurate. I had it set for 6.3 grains of Accurate #5 - well, at least I use that as my "never exceed" value, with anything below 6.3 and above 6.2 acceptable. Once I had this weight dialed in, every single charge fell in precisely where I wanted it. I use a digital scale that reads grains to 2 decimal places; most balance type scales are really only good to 1/10 of a grain. If I was using a normal scale every single charge would have come up as "6.2", with my scale I know that variation between charges is +/- .02 grains. That's amazing. The only downsides to this scale: the powder drop tube does not fit into a Lee "powder-thru-expanding-die", and the fact that is has to be mounted on a separate stand means that access to the drop tube is limited. When using a loading tray like an MTM, you can do 3 rows and then you have to turn it around to do the other 2. Not a big deal, but there it is. You can't get a better scale for this price.

Nicely machined and sturdy Powder Measure.
Accurate within a 2/10th of a grain or so, depending on the type powder you're using. Flake powder is about 1/10th grain variation. When first receving the powder measure, it is very oily and requires a very thorough disassembly and degreasing. Otherwise the powder will cake up. Overall a good value.
