Q: I like these bulbs but I need to IC Rating since insulation will be in contact. What can you recommend?

Hello. I don't remember the IC rating for these lights. The Gu10 bulbs they recommend get very hot. I wouldn't put insulation up against these lights because I believe there not rated. They do make covers out of flame retardantI rock wool type material . They are very pricey. In my situation my lights were installed in a 2nd floor where the air space is vented . So I built air tight boxes that went over the top of them . Or the heat / AC would've been sucked out. So i built boxes out of 1/2" Owens Corning FOAMULAR board. That I got at home depot. A 1/3 of the cost of the premade covers they sell for this aIpplication . I bought it in a 1/2" plywood size sheet. I made sure that my light were set dead center of the joists. I cut pieces to make boxes. 18" L x 18" H x 15" W. I siliconed then screwed them together like if it were wood. Siliconed the seems and let dry. I placed them over the cans cutting a slit for the electric wire and siliconed them down over the light to the drywall . Then I spray foamed the edges and the hole made for the electric wire. Totally air tight . Very inexpensive to do . Hope this helps you.

Q: are these non ic or ic?

IC stands for Insulated Ceiling rated. If it is used in a ceiling, such as an attic, that has insulation above it, it is not recommended for that purpose. However, check with the manufacturers specs as some units have interchangeable bulbs, like LED. LED bulbs use much less electricity and produce less heat but light equivalent to regular bulbs. For example an 8 Watt LED bulb is equivalent to a 75 Watt regular bulb.

Q: Does the fixture include the 120V to 12V transformer?

Alan and TVL, i cannot find anywhere the stated voltage and these are sold in Amazon Spain and Germany, are we sure they are 120V or are they multi-voltage 120-277V?

Q: It looks like these are designed for a drywall ceiling. We have a heavily textured plaster ceiling that varies in thickness, perhaps 2" in some places

The fixtures have adjustable clips that hold them in the ceiling. The side of the can has graduated notches they fit into marked with the depths in inches. If I remember correctly the maximum depth was 1 1/2" or maybe 1 3/4". I'm not sure as I was installing them on 1/4" paneling and that didn't apply. I can tell you that they light a 14'x32' room quite well with LED bulbs and pull less than 1/2 amp. They are easy to install if you buy a 4" hole saw and a wood rasp. 4" is just a little too small but a rasp will open up the hole without much trouble or effort.
