Q: Once the battery runs out can you replace it? What type of battery does it use?

Yes at the bottom use a flat headed screw driver to remove the cover and replace the battery with a CR2032 button cell battery

Q: Why do I need two receivers?

Technet makes two versions of this doorbell. There is one with a single receiver. You might want the two receiver version if your home is large enough that you would not be able to hear the receiver, for example if your house has multiple stories. I personally bought the two receiver version because I work in my office with the door closed and have hearing loss. Turs out the speaker is loud enough the single receiver would have been sufficient. The speaker is in the receiver by the way. If you don't need two receivers, search for the single receiver version. You'll save a little money that way as well.

Q: The tiny screw (which is not mentioned at all in the instructions) is to prevent the transmitter from being opened.
