Look no further! This router is the best bang for your buck!
As an I.T. professional and hardcore gamer, this is by far the best bang for your buck. The interface is so well done. The setup wizard and process is a breeze. Even checks, downloads and updates the firmware during setup. I was quite impressed. Took less than 2 minutes, never hung once and "updating..." progress bar actually works, thus giving comfort to the user who doesnt want to wait 45 minutes wondering whats going on with the router and where its at during the firmare update process like some competitors products(cough netgear). Wifi works awesome, even through 3 walls in a 1 bedroom apartment(living room router location to bedroom tv).Long story short, this router and the settings available inside the router are by far the best ive seen for personal use. Stop wasting your valuable time researching, and trust when I say this Asus RT-AX82U router will serve you right. This is not a paid for review. I did not get this sent to me for free to leave a review. I replaced a pathetic excuse for a router that was netgears 2024 higher end model that didnt even last 2 months before it starting having major dns failures out of nowhere, so my devices would just not have internet for 30 seconds at random intervals when I was in the interwebs. Luckily, I found this Asus router that has made me a life long customer until they start failing at making quality hardware and software. Honestly I cant rave enough about this router. Sincerely, well done Asus, well mother flipping done(golf clap).

Feature rich, could overwhelm some
I work in IT, and I love this thing. Its feature set is Incredibly lengthy though, so if you’re not familiar with router setup and network maintenance, this might be a lot to take in.The USB 3.0 port works well for an external drive over the network. It has scheduled reboots (I highly recommend enabling them, as it does run hot. Again, network maintenance). The “game” filtering is awesome, and while it takes a bit of time to configure in a multi-console home, it’s noticeably (stability and lag reduction) better. Port forwarding is easy to setup, the VPN capability was a nice add on and it makes having “personal cloud” easy if you’re not trying to break the bank on a NAS.The range is nuts, but we only have a 1200 ft home on a 1/2 acre property; this reaches well into our backyard, and covers down to the sidewalk with ease. I didn’t expect it to reach beyond our garage, but it does (down to one bar signal there). Also works well with adding nodes from other ASUS products (I have not tested backyard range and performance on this, just the fact that it CAN do it with backhaul or WiFi).I bought this to upgrade over our previous ASUS mesh ZenWifi system which was three nodes, and this single router replaced our previous coverage. Planning to expand it by adding the nodes from that system on, and hopefully getting full yard/garage coverage in the process

Fully Controllable Interface with great speeds and ping
I love the full control of the nat type, wifi and lan, as well as wan with a built in free vpn that does not slow you down. 912Mbps at 30ms ping on 1gig internet with 2 other devices streaming tv. When enabling gaming mode my speed drops to 700Mbps with a 2ms ping so stronger connection with slower speed which is not an issue as it's just a button click away if im downloading to get right back to the 912 and while faming, lower ping is better than higher speed. So id say Asus is how ive sworn for my gaming and wifi needs for years and they have never disspointed unlike netgear tplink and linksy. Dont waste your money folks get this and never have connection dropouts again.

Solid Router but ISP DHCP issues remain.
Technically from a hardware and UI/UX point of view this is a pretty great router. Solid hardware. The software is easy to use. Best of all it doesn't force you into using a mobile app for full functionality. The missing star is because of an error "Your ISP's DHCP does not function properly."This error has been around for a WHILE and doesn't really have a concrete solution if you happen to run into it. With mitigations in place you might be fine if you happen to run into it or you might not. ASUS as far as I'm aware have never really commented on it.When it was stable though I certainly was satisfied with it's functionality.

Easy to setup and connect existing ASUS ZenWiFi XD4 Plus AX1800 Dual-band Mesh (XD4 Plus)
I purchased this router to be my main router and then integrate my existing Zen Wi-Fi nodes (3) around my house. I still need to work with how everything is configured. I am not seeing any speeds that were faster than before I purchased this router. I needed to extend my Wi-Fi signal to my front door because my Ring doorbell battery was draining fast due to my poor connection. Having a node right inside my door is my solution. All my apps on my smart tv are working well, except Paramount - because Paramount plus app sucks compared to all other apps. Prime is the best app by far!

Great product
It’s renewed but hasn’t had any problems. The app for it is great easy to control, and update. Connection strength is solid and stable. Lots of security features

Broke too many times
I had 3 of these routers. As far as performance, it was great. Im not sure why these things kept failing on me. Not once, not twice but 3 times. I ended up returning them. I love Asus routers but this one really dissapointed me. They didnt last. Sudden connection drops, had to reset to default so many times because suddenly it rejected all my devices and couldnt login to the settings either, ports on the back randomly stopped working, etc. I ended up getting an Asus ROG Pro AX1000 instead. Asus routers are great, but I would stay away from this one model.

Super router
I bought one for a wireless mixer at my school. It's amazing. Really fast, reliable and covers a huge area. I needed another for the 2nd mixer. I tried to cheap out and buy a TPLINK. I have used TPLINK at my house so I figured it would be fine except it doesn't work at my school to broadcast the wireless mixer. Shame on me. I bought another Asus router like I should have done before! Learn from me. You can't go wrong with this router!
