Q: Am I able to take out 1 of the 2 pieces of the metal arm so the laptop sits closer to the pole?

Technically, Yes, you can. There are nuts and bolts on the joints of the arms that could be removed. However, if you was to tighten up 1 of the nuts, then it wouldn’t be able to move making it stay closer to the pole.

Q: Can the mount be attached to the wall instead of a desk?

No, it does not have a provision for wall mountings. Its a tabletop, screw down arrangement only.

Q: would the clamp fit a 13cm thick table?

No - it has plenty of adjustment, but not enough to stretch to 13cm thick table

Q: The arm that holds the laptop tray… can they be shortened? It comes out a lot!

Technically Yes you could shorten the arm, by removing 1 of the arm sections. However, you could just extend itto the desired length and leave it at that distance. When I set up mine, it was very hard to move the arm as the joints were very tight. I loosened the nuts on the joints and now it is much better. This is how you could remove sections to make the arm shorter. Hope this is of help.
