Works reliably at an excellent price
Works reliably at 1/3 of the price of some of the fancy Bluetooth models which have many reviews pointing out there unreliability.Only bought it a few weeks ago so cannot speak for the long-term however have used it in several different settings and it's sufficiently sensitive to measure both ambient temperatures and internal temperatures of food being cooked.Highly recommend

Not intuitive to use
This is not as intuitive as I would have liked. I "think" the meat temperature alarms are pre-set - I would rather set them myself (I don't like dry poultry.....). It was useful to monitor the temperatures without opening the oven door but I didn't rely on the alarmsMy wife has preferred the standard meat thermometer, where one simply removes and tests the meat temp.

Can't use thermometer
Very temperamental. Hard to access the thermometer, when selecting that mode, it goes to timer instead.

Good quality thermometer device
This kitchen aid food thermometer is something I was looking forward to using especially with Christmas so close, we cook various items like turkey and pork but I’ve always found it difficult to know if our meats are well cooked. This little device will solve this issue, obviously you don’t need to use this for your regular everyday foods but more for items that you don’t cook regularly and want to avoid any food poisoning. The unit is compact and comes with a long probe that you insert into your food or oven, the display will show you an internal temperature of your food items, you also have the option to select the pre-set options to tell the unit what type of meat it is, therefore will calculate the correct temperature your meat should be at. I tried this unit on a whole chicken and it worked pretty well, the food was cooked perfectly and the meat was soft and juicy without the outer skin been overcooked. The device is well built and feels sturdy, also the display is bright and clear where the digits can be read clearly.Overall a great device for cooking, the thermometer is accurate and safe also priced reasonably.

Accurate, but as a product it's somewhat overcooked for my needs
This cooking thermometer seem solid enough, and has a clear display. It is magnetic, so that it can be positioned on steel surfaces, and also has a pivoting panel at the back (though disguised as the battery cover), so that it can be stood at an angle. I’ve found the silicone sheath of the cable does make it easier and more comfortable to handle that the more usual metal wire.Without some fancy reference equipment, it’s difficult to be certain how reliable it is. I’ve tried comparing it with another oven thermometer I’ve had a while (its display has become defective though useable), and also with the thermometer in my oven. Tests with the oven and in boiling water indicated the Kitchen Aid thermometer to be accurate.Personally, the diagrams of animals and preset temperatures are a distraction from the core purpose of showing the temperature, and I’d rather do without them. When I cook meat I’m happy to judge by eye. Of course you can just watch the heat reading, and once you’ve managed to read the small writing on the instructions you’ll figure out the way to programme the alert temperature setting manually. All in all, the product is fine. But it does more than I need, and costs more (at £29.79 when reviewed) than most of the competition.

you need it and will love it
We've been stuck in the dark ages using one of those old timey stick it in and watch the gauge move AFTER you pull the dish out of the oven of whatever it is you're checking... such a HASSLE! This thing? Wow! I don't even have to get UP to check it! IT lets me know when my roast is done - and my goodness, the distraction of getting up and down to check and check and check - ok, maybe that's some exaggerating, but really - I was SO tickled that there was an alarm on this! Seriously, I'm easily amused, but this thermometer is so easy to use and it does EVERYTHING as described! I'm buying a few as gifts for Christmas as my girlfriend is stuck in time too! If you are even thinking about this product, you need it and will love it!

How did I do without it?
I've had and used this for several months, now: it's become an indispensable tool in the kitchen.Simple to use, easy to read, and switchable between F and C.The temperatures printed on the reverse are useful (if you have your specs handy!), but it's a simple matter to do a quick Internet search to confirm required, safe temperatures. For those, like me, who tend to overcook to ensure poultry and meat are safe to eat, this is a real boon, resulting in much tastier, as well as safely-cooked food.Battery is easily changed when required, too.Highly recommended.
