Great product if your dog is not implusive
My young curious dog likes to walk ahead at a brisk speed or wander at sides to sniff something interesting. This was causing me knee pain as I would constantly be pulled or walk at his speed.Pros: Now with this product he can still walk ahead, go sideways but he still remains well within 15ft or himself stops if I seem too far. This has considerably helped my knee pain and we both enjoy leisure walk.Cons: The leash looks so thin that I feel it may break when my dog suddenly runs to chase squirrels or say hi to another dog. May be it won’t but I can’t trust it 100% yet, so I have to always remain conscious of my surroundings and lock if length need be.Final Verdict: GO for it if you have a mature dog who is not impulsive. OR if you have a very small dog <10lb which won’t be strong enough to break it.

It took 2 years for my giant dog to break this leash.
05/22/25 - Time to give it it's due review for you. Technically this never broke and I still use it but it's time to replace it. If they would have chosen to use a hemp leash material instead of nylon perhaps mine wouldn't be worn and frayed. I purchased it in Feb. 2023 and my puppy was only 20 pounds. He is 105 pounds today and the leash held up until this month. It still works but the nylon leash part is coming undone in a few spots and I'm pretty sure it was partly my dog trying to chew it when we've been playing over the years and he would bite it. He runs full force to the end of the line and flips to stop himself everyday and it still would not break. It was durable.

Love Extended Leashes
Perfect. I have always used extended leashes. You have to be so much aware of your surroundings especially behind you with an extended leash. Because, they can be dangerous if your pup runs ahead and a car is coming from up behind you. Get in the habit of pulling in your pup if a car is coming ahead of you and then checking behind you when the car passes. You cannot hear another car coming up from behind you when a car passes you. And, if a car is slowly coming up from behind you, you will not hear this car, so check behind you once in awhile. Get in the habit of training your pup on a shorter leash once In awhile. I love the freedom of an extended leash on the sides of a road, but be aware the leashes can be dangerous also.

So far, so good…
This is a pretty great leash. Especially for my almost 80lb dog that likes to pull. We’ve been working on her walking next to me during our walks using a gentle leader since last year. Ive been trying to ween her off the gentle leader so I started using this leash without the lead and she’s been pretty good for the most part. When she starts walking ahead of me, I put the lock on and she’s right back by my side. It’s also great because she loves to sniff and explore so the leash is long enough to go and let her do her thing. I can stand on the side walk and she’s off in the grass loving her “freedom.” My only issue, I’m not sure how strong the leash is. I’m terrified that if she sees a cat (we have strays in the area) that she will take off running and the leash will snap. It could be strong enough but it’s pretty thin so it kind of worries me. I’ll just keep my fingers crossed that it doesn’t happen because I’m enjoying our walks with the new leash.

Very good lead for large or small dog
This lead is so good. Does not tangle when it retracts, it does not jam does not slip when lock engaged. Two other small brands I have had tangled and jammed such they could not be used. I bought a large one of this brand years ago and have never had a problem. Decided to replace the smaller lead with this brand, which is the same as my larger one. So pleased I did. Fast shipping good packaging.

Perfect leash
The perfect leash (at last)! Got a large for our 30# dog and a medium for our 20#; both are more than adequate. The stop and lock functions operate smoothly and positively. VERY well designed and built! Comfortable to the hand, too.Couldn’t ask for more!

Perfect for my beagle.
I have a 30lb beagle and this lead is perfect for them. I was going to buy the next size up in weight but I'm happy I didn't. I've only had it a few days and so far it's been a great!

Amazing leash. Just bought my second.
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been using the Tug dog leash for a few weeks now, and it’s definitely one of the better retractable leashes I’ve tried.Durability: The build quality is solid. It feels sturdy and well-constructed, even when my dog suddenly bolts or pulls. No fraying or weakening in the tape so far.Length: The leash extends to a generous length, giving my dog plenty of freedom during walks while still allowing me to maintain control when needed.Color: I got the black version—sleek and neutral, which I love. It doesn’t show dirt easily and matches most of my gear.Handle Length: The handle is comfortably sized, even for someone with larger hands. It has a rubberized grip that makes it easy to hold for long walks.Retractability: The retraction mechanism is smooth and consistent. It doesn’t jam or snap back aggressively, and it locks into place securely when needed.Design: Simple, modern, and functional. It’s not flashy, but it does its job well and looks good doing it.Overall, the Tug leash has a smart, user-friendly design and dependable performance—exactly what I look for in a leash.NOTE: Dog not included
