Well done Catherine Burns and The Moth!
Let me begin this review with my impression of the exterior design of this book. I typically don't purchase hard back books for the sake of comfortability. I like the feel of a paperback and often travel with books so the lighter the weight the better. This book, however, is amazingly comfortable to hold and the gold embossed cover design is so incredibly gorgeous a paperback cover simply would not do it justice. As an avid Moth listener and book collector, I was thrilled to add this to my collection and ordered two copies pre-sale. When it arrived I immediately began reading and was thoroughly impressed with the sequence of the stories and how lightly the original content was edited. I have heard a lot of these stories on the podcast and reading them was just as good, if not better, as hearing them live.I've given a copy of this book to a dear friend as a gift and am considering buying several more copies to distribute as everyone should have this book in their life.

Laugh. Cry. Love.
Absolutely the most beautiful thing I have read. GREAT when you have ADD when it comes to reading books. Short stories are my favorite and I know that now thanks to this book. I also now follow and listen to the podcast every week. I'm so glad I found this on Amazon while looking for books that would help me with my anxieties and fear of death. I am extremely appreciative of The Moth and all that it has to offer. Hearing the stories that each of these vulnerable, beautiful souls have to say is insightful and absolutely extraordinary. The story that really touched me was from the founder George, second favorite was the man who forgave Ivan. loved it, Loved It, LOVED IT!!!

Delightful Book of Short Stories and Prose
Our state is using this book for the high school Speech Competition category called Extemporaneous Reading. I wanted to do an overview of the book and it is great! Such an eclectic collection of works!

Good book, but....
I really enjoyed the stories in this book, although it doesn't quite hit the mark like listening to the stories live or on podcasts. The Moth Podcast is my 'go-to' podcast....never disappoints!

Short, interesting & thoughtful events
I enjoy the presentation of each personal essay. I enjoy having a source of individual essays in one book. This could have been a quick read, but I only read two or three at a time so I could savor each experience. With so many unknown factors in each life that will come as challenges to handle, this might be a good book for young adults. When you focus on others more than yourself, you find lots to learn.

A wonderful book of stories of significant events in people's lives. It's worth your time
This is a fantastic book of life stories from people of different ages, from varied countries and relating incidents that happened in a variety of time periods. I loved the diversity of the stories and the different perspectives that are presented. Some of them touched me and others showed me incidents and events from another person's point of view that I may not have considered. This book is really good and I can hardly wait to read the other compilations that are available.

Magic
Remarkable, inspiring, and almost unbelievable short stories packed into one book - all, to some degree or another, seemingly have the purpose of changing your worldview or perception of what it means to be human.

Wonderous
I was somewhat familiar with Moth, having attended a gathering in KY a few years ago, and ran across this book at a bag sale last summer. I was mesmerized by the rawness, the humanity and the humor found in mundane and/or life-changing moments. The story-telling is flawless, and the focus wide-ranging enough to captivate anyone. If a particular story isn't to your liking, a new one is a few pages away. So glad it went in my bag. Thank you!
