Good Rubbermaid dish drainer in black
Just what I wanted for my kitchen. Rubber coated wire rack, in black, good sized and the black fits my kitchen decor. So far, so good with this product.

Function over form
I have spent too many years using "pretty" wooden drying racks made of pine and bamboo, and while they all look really nice they eventually succumb to the same problem: they get moldy. With too much money spent, I was forced to confront the issue that a drying rack's role in my kitchen is not to add to the décor, but to dry my dishes. And so here we are.The "Rubbermaid Antimicrobial Dish Drainer" may not be much to look at, but it sure does a great job of its intended purpose. Because it is basically a big, deep bucket, I can pile way more dishes in here than I could on any of my wooden racks, and the side cup-holders are incredibly handy. Those funny little loop-things on the side hold cups and mugs outside of the main dish drainer, which goes a long way in increasing its capacity. There is a little bucket for cutlery, wooden spoons, etc...some of my longer serving spoons don't stand upright in here, but that is no problem as I just tuck them in the big bowl lying down.I can't really comment on the "antimicrobial" properties of the drainer, as I haven't had any problems so I assume it is working. All I know is that there is no mold, and my dishes are drying! I couldn't ask for much more!

Good size and color
Three reasons for this purchase - black color, size and Rubbermaid product. Bought the white version when the black was no where to be found. That color was difficult to keep clean. This is the perfect size for our counter, hold plenty of dishes/cups and blends with our kitchen decor. This product is durable, also.

Used to be a trusted household name...
Rubbermaid should be ashamed to tout this as their product! This is SO inferior to one I've owned for 18 years and just recently have needed to replace, hence the cheap quality of the new one...if it falls apart faster...you have to replace it faster! The quality is so poor that I just can't even believe it's the same maker, which I suspect it isn't...I will have to research but also suspect they've sold out their name! The metal is VERY THIN and coated with a VERY THIN rubber, if you can call it that, it doesn't feel like my old one...more "plasticky" (not a word but you understand)! The utensil basket is not the one shown in the photo but is a long thin one that sits along the front or back of the drainer and also acts as a barrier so items will not fall out since there is only two thin wires and a gaping hole on one end, this is where it has to go! This type of utensil holder is also very poorly designed and made as all your utensils fall to one side making it side heavy and causing utensils to topple out...they do not stand up, they just fall over and lay on top of one another! The last gripe I have is that the cup/glass holders on the side allow the cup or glass to slide all the way down. There used to be a "bar" running front to back on both sides that acted as a "stop" for cups and glasses and preventing the rims from sliding all the way down and resting on your sink! This "stop" or bar also shored up the entire drainer giving it more strength and stability...now it is flimsy and cheaply made!

A most effective Vinyl Record, low-tech drier.
We purchased this dish drainer specifically to dry vinyl records. While most people won't look here for such a thing, I just wanted you to know how versatile it is. For this task, we looked for a couple of qualities that were essential: (1) the device needed vertical holders of some sort as drying a record is best done vertically. (2) the device needed to be plastic coated in order to keep from damaging the vinyl. I don't care how careful you are, you will occasionally touch the vinyl to the plastic. The soft plastic on this is perfect for the job. (3) The base unit needed to be stiff wire so the vertical holders can be bent. They need to stay where you bend them and be able to handle repeated bendings. You can see from my picture that though I envisioned a straight vertical record, that I get them at a slant. The slant works fine for drying. They are only in this position for about 30 minutes which does not warp the vinyl unless you are in a very high heat house. In that case the heat will kill you and you won't care if the vinyl warps.

Not as good as the old ones
I had a dish drainer from Rubbermaid for years but it finally gave out. I ordered this one which really went up in price and I feel like the slots are shorter as my plates seem to be falling which they never did before plus I already see one rust spot on it and I’ve only had it for a little over a month so they have definitely got cheaper but I could not find another one that would fit into my odd size sink so I had to go with it. Hopefully it only just rust in that one spot.

It's great
I bought this to replace my previous dish drainer because it had a mat underneath that got discolored and disgusting and I was unable to clean it. I love that this doesn't have a mat underneath and water is able to drip down freely to a wash cloth that I lay underneath and can easily laundry after much use. This dish drainer is much larger than any I have had, so it does take up more counter space than I would have liked, but because it is so spacious, it holds a lot of dishes. It is very lightweight but sturdy. The utensil holder is on the smaller side, but should hold more than enough utensils. There really isn't any hole that other reviewers were referring to for dishes to fall through. The utensil holder covers it. The glass holder is designed in such a way that glassware will hit the counter if placed on them, but because I don't dry my glasses on this, it was not a concern for me. I also lay a cloth underneath the dish drainer to absorb water, so that wouldn't be a problem even if I were to use it for drying glasses. Overall, this is a great looking dish drainer. I love the black and the design.
