absolutely ridiculous in the most fantastic of ways
This just about completes my collection of the Shadow Black series and it absolutely lives up to every expectation: beautifully designed and crafted, well balanced and fairly easily managed, and holds an edge quite well.

Quality knife that arrives EXTREMELY sharp, and is beautifully crafted!
You’re getting everything you’re expecting and paying for with this knife. Tested the sharpness of the blade by pressing the tip of my finger against the blade, slightly pushing downwards; the blade drew dark red blood instantly, leaving 1-2mm cut. The knife has a full tang, which is evident from solid feel and from the weight, and has an impressive balance.

A great knife for those who butcher their own large fish and game animals.
Dalstrong Tuna KnifeThe first glance at this tuna knife brought to mind a ninja sword. The tanto blade tip and the tapered side ( one side is tapered - the other flat) of the blade inspire this connection. This knife is virtually a short sword. I placed on my food prep island along side a vintage wakizashi ( samurai short sword) for comparison. The knife nearly covers the entire length of my food prep island. The length of this kitchen knife limits it's piratical use to all but the largest of projects.Other than it's intended use by those who fish and prepare large fish, this knife would probably come in handy for hunters of large game as well.It would be nice if the knife came with an actual sheath rather than a plastic blade protection devise.Fine craftsmanship is evident throughout this quality piece of specialty cutlery, and with it's lifetime warranty how could you go wrong.4.5 starsExplaining my rating system:5 - a superior product - I would recommend4 - above average – a great choice3 - average – what one might generally expect2 - below average – I would advise seeking an alternative1- Horrible – a waste of your valuable money - avoid if at all possible

Not for culinary use.
It is a very dull knife, definitely not meant for slicing clean cuts on tuna or meat. It is closer to a samurai sword. Useless in the kitchen.

UNPARALLED, INCOMPARABLE, UNSURPASSED. YOU'LL BE SPEECHLESS WHEN YOU SEE IT.
When this package first arrived, I couldn’t believe it was a knife. The inner box of the box in which the Dalstrong box arrived — the box actually holding the knife — was 28” long. Huh. A knife? A saber? A samurai sword? I was literally almost afraid to open the box. And then I did. This Dalstrong Shadow Black Series is so impressive I’m actually speechless.I have a thing for knives, and when I see an extraordinary, impeccably-made, exceptional knife, my knees tend to go weak, and I start spewing out poetry, or at least a lot of words to express my besotted, intoxicated state upon the sighting of a great knife. But I’ve already used all those words to describe other remarkable knives I known. For this Dalstrong Shadow Black Series “Tuna Knife,” I need better words. I need words that represent, not 10, but 11 — if you know what I mean. This knife is unparalleled, incomparable, unsurpassed. Holy Cow.And for the technical points: A tuna knife is a large, sharp knife that is used to fillet and slice tuna. It has a long, thin blade that’s flexible enough to curve around fish bones. The blade is also very sharp, so it can quickly and easily cut through the fish's flesh. Tuna knives are typically used by professional fishermen and fishmongers, but they can also be used by home cooks like myself, who enjoy eating tuna — raw, of course. The Dalstrong Tuna Knife - 17 inch Slicer - Shadow Black Series - Black Titanium Nitride Coated - High Carbon - 7CR17MOV-X Vacuum Treated Steel - Meat Fish Knife is a very, very high-quality tuna knife that’s made with durable materials and construction. It features a 17-inch blade that’s made from high-carbon stainless steel and coated with black titanium nitride for added strength and durability. The knife has an amazingly comfortable ergonomic handle that provides an excellent grip. Again, Holy Cow.

This is more like a short sword
So the build quality is amazing. It's a super sharp edged knife. The handle is extremely long. You can hold it with both hands like a Japanese sword. I thought it was 17" in total length. Not 17" blade. That length technically qualifies this as a sword. Namely the Japanese Wakizashi sword. I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong. It's really cool how long this knife is. But I failed to see what you would use it for. Maybe if you had a Turkish doner kebab restaurant, this is perfect for you. It's long enough to cut across the wide stack of meat. And sharp enough to get some good thin slices. I do not know what else you could use this in a regular household other than using it as a sword in a zombie apocalypse. The handle is unorthodox in shape and size. Just the sheer length of it is surprising to me. But that gives it a good balance when you're holding since the blade is so long. High carbon steel. Super sharp edge. And I love how they have some sense of humor on the booklet they included. Obviously they have bunch of amazing knives. I need to check the rest of them out. I am amazed by the quality. But I still don't know what I would use this for.

Magnificent
This is probably more of a small sword than a knife. At 17 inches long it’s quite intimidating and you might lack a actual place to store it. But this is designed for cutting whole large fish. The build quality of this thing is excellent and the fit and finish is as well. It’s made a really good steel and holds an edge white well but it’s not hard to sharpen, except for the size of course. That can make it a little awkward.I’m very glad that it came with the sheath (scabbard?) because otherwise you would have to get a custom-made scabbard for it. It’s just too large to be sitting out without the blade being covered. I’m going to guess this will make a decent back up ninja sword for those of you who are into the martial arts. Seriously this thing is gorgeous too. I don’t think I got to just how beautiful it looks. It would make a perfect gift as well. It’s definitely the conversation piece in the kitchen .
