Beautiful decorrative gift
I bought it as a gift for a friend who is a retired Navy. I don't know if it actually work or not, but it was meant to be a souvenir. If it works as advertise, that will be an added bonus although I can hardly imagine why would anyone buy it to use it for navigation. In any case, it looks very beautiful and the box looks really expensive. I just wished that it was a little bigger.

Accuracy
This is an interesting nautical instrument. It came in a protective wooden box but there were no instructions relating to calibration. My unit was 1.5 degrees off and would not be accurate enough for use in navigation.
