Treat Someone You Love, Including Yourself
I'm cheap, so after some research I purchased the SE5000 SuperEar for myself. It works as advertised, with the associated pitfalls (background noise sensitivity most notable), and I'll keep mine in case my hearing diminishes to the point of requiring a conversation aid. Under the right circumstances, the SuperEar would work fine for that...HOWEVER, it also firmed my resolve NOT to cheap out on my dear ol' 82-YO mom's birthday gift but to instead heed the advice of reviewers suggesting the Sennheisers were the way to go for premium wireless TV headphones. After testing the RS 5200's I'm very happy that I and ponied up!My biggest unanswered concern at the time of purchase was whether audio could be played both through the RS5200 headphones and TV speakers at the same time. I am very happy to report that the answer is YES!--in particular by using the fiber optic audio port of my mother's ROKU TV with the cable provided. It was plug & play, requiring no TV menu changes. The headphone and TV volume controls independently adjust their respective outputs. This is perfect for times when only one movie viewer has trouble hearing conversations at moderate TV volume levels. On the other hand my mother can listen to, say, Fox News at a headphone volume that doesn't require her to use subtitles, without driving away the rest of the household--that is, with the TV speakers MUTED! She'll even be able to hear TV conversations while puttering around within 20 feet (or more) of the TV, heretofore unheard of (pun unintended)!Headphone sound quality is primo and the Conversation Enhancement feature, also not yet fully tested, appears to offer a significant boon to speech comprehension when soundtrack audio otherwise tends to drown out conversation. My only real concern is comfort. I acclimated to the pressure on my ears but have only tested the headphones with the largish cone-shaped pads they come equipped with. Eventually my ears needed a rest. I think one of the additional 3 sets of pads of different shapes and sizes included would likely prove more comfortable for smaller ears.If my mother enjoys these headphones as much as I think she will, it's very likely I'll be forced to spring for another set for myself. A bittersweet result, wallet-wise, but a GREAT gift suggestion for my wife (are you reading?)

Outstanding Product
I have severe hearing loss but with this product, I can hear TV audio again. Another plus is it recharges when it is placed on base unit. Very highly recommended.

Degradation of Product Quality
I purchased this item believing that it would be an improvement on Sennheiser's TR840 but I was mistaken. This unit is less comfortable, but more importantly the audio quality is substantially worse than the older model. Specifically, the audio is very muddy in comparison. I'm not aware that one can adjust the treble or mid-range quality of the audio on this unit. There is also a noticeable delay with the television's audio which is very annoying. All this is to say that I'm glad I kept the older model and am still using it.

It works great
We had an older version which developed intermittent sound issues. Just used the same cables and the new one is great!

These Really Work
My husband is extremely hard of hearing and cannot wear hearing aids (long story but he cannot process all the sounds in daily life). He has had several pair of headphones for TV but only 2 sets ever really worked. Both were Seinhauser. The last one's finally gave up after about 6 years. Tried 4 different kinds and returned them all. Finally talked him into spending the little bit more for Seinhauser and he absolutely loves them. Even for him he says they have crystal clear sound, even better than his last Seinhauser set. So happy he can enjoy TV again.
