This scale deserves far more credit!
This is a long winded review so you are forewarned.I am a lab tech by trade for over 25 years. I use electronic (Mettler-Toedo) scales every day, and all of them cost thousands of dollars. They are very accurate, reliable and durable. However, just like this Lyman scale, you have to follow some “Good Lab Practices” to get the most out of them. So I will share some of my knowledge to use this scale that admittedly, has been covered in other reviews. No offense to a previous review, but they are not “quirks”. These are necessary steps to achieve accurate weighing. (To be fair I have only used this scale once, but I found no problems with it at all) So here are my tips:1. Plug the scale in and let it “warm up” for the recommended 24 hours or at least overnight. Resist the urge to use it right away. The scales I use at work are plugged in and turned on 24/7 just so that they will not drift.2. Make sure this scale is on a hard, flat surface and is level. Very important.3. Calibrate it before you use it for the first time and each time thereafter. Do not expect this scale to be accurate out of the box, without calibrating it. Don’t touch the calibration weights with bare fingers. The dirt and oils on your hands will throw off the accuracy of the calibration weights and can actually start to corrode them. Wear clean rubber gloves or use a clean cloth/ paper towel when handling the calibration weights.4. Try to reload in a room that has a temperature between 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. A cold room might require a longer warm-up and cause more drift.5. Static electricity is an electronics scale worst enemy and I cannot stress this enough. I believe this will be 90% of all the problems you might have using this or any electronic scale. The best solution for this is to use the aluminum weigh dish that comes with this scale. If you do use a plastic weigh dish, (as I do) wipe the outside with a dryer sheet several times and this is usually sufficient to remove any static problems. If you hold any object over the top of this scale and the display acts crazy, then you have a severe static electricity problem. Also, move your hand away from the scale after you dispense powder, to make sure the static charge you have, is not throwing off the weight. You can carry enough static charge on yourself to make this scale go crazy!6. Zero the scale with the weigh dish after every powder charge you successfully weigh. I realize the instructions allow 10 weighing’s in-between zeroing and I also realize that it takes 5 seconds for the scale to zero. However, for the most accuracy try to get in the habit of zeroing every time you place the weigh dish on the scale.7. Make sure the weigh dish, when sitting on the scale, does not touch the powder trickler (if you are using it) or any other object, as this will certainly throw off the accuracy of your powder charge.8. Air currents will also cause havoc with any scale trying to hold a stable weight. This will probably account for the other majority of problems you might have. At my job, we have a room dedicated for weighing that is completely isolated from any and all drafts. As I said previously, I have used this scale only once, but it handles just as easy as the ones I use daily that cost thousands more. The instructions are adequate and straight forward. I definitely recommend this Lyman scale.

Great scale
I like how fast it operates and it’s spot on when weighing powder charges

Good scale, cheap plastic.
It works properly and very precise, but made of very cheap plastic. Particularly the hinges for the lid. It broke practically out of the box

Very Accurate
This post By Masseyman from KS tells the whole story.Accurate - After you learn its quirksBought this at Cabela's but thought it needed a review here. I read all of the reviews at Cabela's site and was on the fence about it. Picked it up anyway since I figured it would be easy to return if it wasn't reliable. At first, I was unhappy! I let it warm up, I calibrated it, I made sure it was level. But after an hour of testing using an empty cartridge, a quarter, a pencil, and the calibration weights, it still drifted - A LOT! So much for "Anti-drift". And the directions are the reason it only gets 4 stars instead of 5, they are, IMHO, lacking. Then a few days later I had a second thought, maybe I was doing something wrong. So I unpacked it again, and sat down to give it a second try, I'm glad I did! It is very accurate, if you know its quirks!First Quirk - the scale pad is magnetic sensitive. If you hold your hand over it, and you have a static charge, you will effect the reading.Second Quirk - IT IS VERY SENSITIVE! Blowing on it will register a weight value. Vibrations will register a weight value (I discovered this as my wife walked by).Third Quirk - The scale pad likes to be "LEVEL"! After I leveled it, during my tests, I decided to try it "unleveled", it made a big difference! Also, this quirk pertains to where you place whatever it is to be weighed. At the front, things are lighter, at the back, things are heavier, UNLESS, you pay attention to the fourth quirk. The Fourth (and most important) Quirk - Let it settle between weightings! When you weigh something, after it has determined it has reached the exact value for that object, the Grain/Gram symbol will blink once. This goes for when you place something on it, AND when you remove something from it, and it returns to Zero. If you try and weigh different things quickly, it doesn't like it! I believe it has to do with it determining if the scale arm (under the pad) is finished moving. So, let it settle, and watch for the blink! And I noticed the more I used it, the more reliable it became. Maybe the arm needed to be "Broke in".After the 2 hour test, after I found its quirks, I was able to get the exact same results, time after time, with the Quarter, the Pencil, and the empty cartridge, even after I unplugged it, moved it, leveled it, and calibrated it.

Very sensitive and helpful device
I purchased this since I was no longer trusting my previous scale. This lyman helped me tremendously. Very precise and yet come with a trickle to make it even more exact.

I have absolutely no trust in this scale and would not recommend it.
I rarely write reviews but this scale has frustrated me to this point. I used the scale successfully for the first 5-6 times. Now it no longer holds zero. By taking the pan off and putting it back on will make the scale vary from -0.06 to 3.1 grns. If I re calibrate the scale it will work for approximately two loads and then go off again. I see several other reviews with a similar issue along with a comment on one of them suggesting if one has a problem with this scale they don't know how mechanical things work. I have been reloading for over 20 years and have used numerous electronic scales over the years. I have absolutely no trust in this scale and would not recommend it.

This is a very good scale.
A really nice scale, let it warm up and it goes to zero every time.

Nice upgrade for my reloading
This scale and trickler makes my reloading alot easier and more accurate.
