Amazing variation of the classic book
We have a few hungry caterpillar books and toys. This one is great and helps with counting so very educational. She loves the pictures and likes turning the pages. Really sturdy and don't have to worry about her bending or ruining the book as she can be really rough with paper books and often scrunched the pages but this is great.

caterpillar to butterfly
it is the classic story you know and love! sure it hasn't got words to read, rather fruits to count! 1 apple, 2 pears etc! On the final page the caterpillar becomes a butterfly! The finger puppet is great and my nearly 7 month old son was fascinated from the first glance! If you are looking to read a full story then stick to the classic, but if you have even a little imagination then the book and the puppet and your child will do the rest for you! i'd call it a bargain and they even shipped to mainland Europe between christmas and new year! what more could you ask for! Have fun with your children! Beats the hell out of giving them an ipad or a smart phone! :p

A good way to help young readers learn to count... Not the classic story.
Bought this as a gift for a new baby as a timeless classic, to go with a Hungry Caterpillar baby grow.I loved the idea of the Classic story now with a finger puppet. The product description stated that this is "Eric Carle's classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, with a wriggly finger puppet" - this is a nice little book, The pages were quite chunky printed on thick card this added to the fun that you could have with the Caterpillar finger-puppet as you could make him wriggle through each page Unfortunately, there is no classic story. It's more of a counting book..... "1 delicious apple, 2 crisp pears, 3 tart plums, 4 sweet strawberries, 5 juicy oranges, many colours a beautiful butterfly." 6 pages.... counting up to 5.A good way to help young readers learn to count ... This is a book that I have fond memories of from my childhood And One of my daughters' favourite stories when they were little (many moons ago)

Intertactive fun....
A perfect gift - Ive bought this already for friends with kids between the ages of 1 and 5 years, this book is fab, it's interactive between two people or a group of preschoolers or for the child by themselves, small & tough enough for little hands, you can wipe down the book if you need to. The caterpillar munches through an apple, 2 pears, 3 tart plums, 4 sweet strawberries, 5 juicy oranges, than springs to life into a beautiful butterfly.... Very colourful & enough to fire the imagination off any child. A safe bet as far as a great present is concerned & economic too.Recommended...

brilliant interactive book for little ones
As a child i loved the Very Hungry Caterpillar, and now that i have a little one of my own I am excited to bring this to life for him with the finger puppet edition of the book.It is well made with hard cardboard pages that stand up to a good deal of dribbly fingers and being sucked on, the finger puppet is just as robust which is good as it has been grabbed and pulled on a good few times. The artwork is as ever beautifully represented in the book.It is just as good as i remember growing up, and is a firm favourite at bedtime for my 6 month old!

A super book
I bought this book as a gift for my two year old nephew for his birthday,I liked that he could stroke the caterpillar and that I could move it around with my finger so made it feel real.It went on to become one of his favourite bedtime story books and was passed down to his little sister.Because it is a thick cardboard it lasts and lasts and little hands cannot tear the pages, and the story though quite simple leaves them coming back for more time and again.Great little book.

Cute but not quite a classic
I can remember reading and enjoying the Very Hungry Caterpillar as a young child so I was delighted to discover this board book version complete with cute finger puppet! This was purchased for my youngest son as a first Christmas present but it is only now, close to his first birthday, that he is really showing much interest in it (beyond trying to suck and bite the finger puppet!)The book is very well made with thick pages and the puppet is very well attached, making it pretty much indestructable - despite my little one's best efforts. The only real disappointment is that the book doesn't contain the whole original story. It uses the colourful images from Eric Carle's classic tale but this is basically a very simple, short counting book. For that reason alone, this book is likely to have quite a time limited appeal for children. The finger puppet is a fun addition however, as it pops out of a whole within each page, and this would be great as a gift for a pre-schooler alongside the original story, to broaden its appeal.
