Q: Is this safe for soft belly scavengers like Khuli Locaches and Cory Cats?

Yes, it is perfect for them. My Corys and Khulis love it.

Q: Do I need to rinse if I start fresh planted aquarium?

Mine arrived VERY dirty. The cloudiness was settling as expected, but it was settling with a brown dust coat on everything. I didn't want it to look like that so I scooped it all out into a 5 gallon bucket and took it to the bathtub. I filled and dumped the bucket a good 5 times also mixing with my hand as it filled. After 5 times or so the brown cloudiness was gone. I did it 5 more times because there was still black ink/dust type stuff coming out when I'd dump the bucket. I never got that to stop happening, so returned the sand to the tank at that point. It was MUCH better. Clear enough to plant that day, and cleared completely in 2 days.

Q: Is this ok for Bermuda grass outside in lawn?

Seems to be an expensive option for your lawn. I'm sure theres much better options for you that are better and less costly.

Q: Will a sponge filter disturb the sand and make it cloud after its rinsed or will it continue to sit at the bottom as it should?

Sponge filers (or any other kind of filter) will have no impact on the sand. I rinsed mine through two colanders (each one with smaller holes than the others) to get the dust off. Laid it out on a cookie sheet covered in wax paper (about 1/3 of a bag at a time) then gently added it to the aquarium to keep it where I wanted it. It's easy when the aquarium is empty of water but a little more difficult with water and fish in it. Do about a 75-90% water change than scoop it gently where you want to place it and it will stay put. Now when you clean the sand expect a certain amount of silt - I suspect over time I'll have to buy another bag to replace what got suctioned out but it's well worth it - it's a very good product. You can also buy the Fourtite Black clay - which isn't as soft as the sand but not as hard as the cheap gravels. I have fish that like to dig - that's my main reason for going with sand. With clay and gravel they were getting rubbing sores on the ends of their little noses so the sand is much easier on them. You'll be pleased with the performance.
