Back around 1989 I was working on my Jeep when I forced a lug-wrench to un-stick a lug-nut and I suddenly found my thumb bent backwards -- I was horrified!In a panic (knowing that every second I waited the pain from resetting my dislocated thumb would go up exponentially), I grabbed my thumb and yanked it into the direction it was normally pointed, and with a little luck it went back into place.After the usual ice-pack and later warm-compresses, I knew that my thumb was now going to haunt me for the rest of my life -- especially as I grew older.And more than thirty-five years later here I am with infrequent pain as I had expected. When the pain goes away I realize it will return the moment I grasp something tightly while using that thumb; problem is that I forget about the condition of my thumb until it's too late, and I'm once again in agony.This splint essentially keeps my thumb in a neutral position and prevents my thumb from getting into a position where I will hurt it again. I can still play guitar, albeit it feels rather awkward at first and it does put some limitation on my dexterity.I also believe that true joint-replacement of this sort isn't going to happen in my lifetime. After trying out several thumb-splints, this one so far seems to be working better than those I've tried in past.

The thumb support is very good. Not sure it will last forever but at the price they are charging buy 2.

I have a osteo arthritis in both hands and need to have the thumb joint repaired on both hands as well. Though, the left is much worse than the right so that is where I use my brace.I bought this one for two very specific reasons. First, it's made from soft, comfortable neoprene material. Second, the metal splint brace is removable. Big score! I already have a similar brace for everyday use and a molded plastic brace from the orthopedic doctor's office. I bought this one specifically so I would have something very soft and comfortable to wear overnight when my hand is killing me and my thumb needs mild stabilizing. Without the metal piece in there I don't have that hard chunk up against my thumb joint causing more pain while I sleep.I wouldn't necessarily suggest this one if you're doing heavy work with your hands. But, if you just need a simple and soft brace that's going to stabilize a little than this will be the perfect find. You can always slip that metal bar back in there for more solid stabilization.If you like me and you've sat back wondering over and over again "why the heck won't somebody make a brace out of material that is ACTUALLY comfortable?" Then this product will probably finally fit the comfort bill.

Purchased for my Mom. She absolutely loves it. Helps to relieve her nightly 'thumb' cramps however, the Velcro has already become 'loose', after less than a dozen uses.

I have terrible pain in both thumb joints and decided to try stabilizing them while I sleep to make sure I don't hurt them any further. These really do the trick. My thumbs don't hurt during the night and are pain free in the AM.

Good product to keep the thumb secure

The minute I received this item, I put it on. It gives great support and limits movement so my thumb can recover. Highly recommend.
