Alessi 9093 B Kettle Stainless Steel with Handle and Bird-Shaped Whistle Polyamide Black

This is a really stylish kettle and an iconic design. Like other reviews, I had an issue with the bird whistle but Amazon were great in replacing it. The first one I received as a present and the whistle did not work. Amazon were quick to refund my account so I could get another without the gift-giver knowing about it. The second one worked fine.With the first one I think the lid was not sealing properly and the steam was escaping through the lid. Make sure the lid is snapped on firmly - you should hear it click. It is not a loud whistle and I think the level of water in the kettle makes a difference to how loud it is. I find it works best it you don't fill it much above the base of the spout. As to the complaints about it in other reviews - Don't leave it boiling for ages or the whistle will melt. Don't try to remove the whistle while the steam is coming out or you will burn yourself. Do remove the label first - it peels off easily, otherwise it will melt onto the kettle.

The Alessi kettle is so far the best kettle I have ever bought. On my new induction hob (1 month old) it boils so fast you can't do another job while you are waiting and the family love the whistle to tell us it is ready. It is very stylish but also delivers on performance.

The kettle I bought in July 2024 broke when the handle became detached after 10 months. There was initially a disias to whether Amazon or Alessi were responsible.. Thank you to Alessi who replaced and dispatched a replacement. I didn't expect the kettle to break, however EXCELLENT customer service. Thank you

Alessi usually make great pieces I have several around the kitchen. And even this kettle look stunning on the stove.They wanted to be different with putting a bird to whistle but you can hardly ear it. Not worth the money spent for just a decorative useless utensile.

Looks lovely. The lid is tough to remove. I haven’t mastered the manoeuvre without bashing my knuckles on the handle.The bird whistle doesn’t really whistle, it’s more like a strangled cry and the bird can be tricky to remove from the spout. Maybe it will become easier when used over a prolonged period.

I love this kettle! Boils in under two minutes on my induction hob and has taken pride of place on my kitchen top. So glad I never opted for an electric kettle. I can’t understand previous complaints about the bird whistle not working or barely audible. They must be unlucky as mine is practically ear piercing!!
