I've only had a beard for about a year now and had been using the Braun MGK5240 that uses the guard to adjust the trim length. A 5 was too short and a 7 too long where I had to do a bit of free styling. Great trimmer but if you prefer a 6 or a half size, you're out of luck.Gave the 3460 a try and like it. I started with a 7 and worked my way down to a 6. The half sizes are nice and I'll likely use a 6.5 for most of my beard. I do wish it had a carrying case for the different heads but the nice thing about it, everthing fits in the travel case for my old Braun.I never came close to accidentally changing the dial setting while using the 3460 and it had plenty of power. Speaking of power, I wouldn't mind seeing a charging light on the trimmer that turns off when the trimmer is fully charged.All in all, if you need something more than odd number trimmer lengths, this is one to take a strong look at.

I love this Braun grooming tool. Each of the cutting heads works beautifully and does a great job maintaining my mustache and finally gets rid of the gross ear and nose hair that makes an older man look even older if not removed. My wife loves the new look and I like looking a bit cleaner shaven and don't distract folks trying to avert looking at "odd hairs" that just don't look good - especially as you get older.Very quiet operation and easy to change heads. Clean heads only with water rinse.

Great for trimming up beard and unwanted hair. Battery life has been really good and it's small size is perfect for taking on trips. Works pretty well, but the wheel for settings can be a little testy. When doing any kinds trimming, make sure you reset to "0", before moving to your desired number. One time I left it where it had been, and apparently it was off..because when I went to trim my beard, it took a whole lot more than I wanted.

Braun quality and all the attachments I need to keep me well groomed. Trimmer cuts precisely. Only niggle is no light to indicate charging or power status.

I have purchase two of these products in past two years and the power cord stops charging after less than one year. I have tied to buy a new one and it cost $26 plus shipping for a shaver that cost under $40 dollars. I assume a new cord would not last a year either, so while I love the shaver, it is not much good if you cannot charge it. Please note, my cord has not traveled, it just sets in a wide drawer and is only used to charge the razor. SO, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE SHAVER SINCE THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER CORD.

The trim guards on my previous shaver/electric razor broke, after several years of use. Not able to find replacement guards, I decided to give this one a try, keeping within the same price point as my previous trimmer/shaver. So far pretty disappointed. I have found, regardless of depth setting on the guards, it does not trim or shave well in the area between my bottom lip and chin. Whiskers are almost always longer there after a trim than rest of face (almost untouched). The design of the shaver makes it difficult to get in to tighter spots on the face. Its almost too big for facial use, in my opinion. I don't use this for my hair (haircuts and head hair trims), but despite it advertised for hair trims and facial hair, I suspect this will only work well for trimming hair/clipper haircuts for most users. For the less contoured surfaces of my face it works well. I also am not a fan of the dial system this utilizes. They do give you some guards but even at the lowest dial adjustment there is still too big of a gap from the teeth to the guard. I will say the ear and nose trimmer does a great job, but the tip of it starts to get pretty hot after a minute or two of use. I will continue to use this until I can find a better device at a similar price point.

Great quality product. It has multiple levels of detail. The charge also lasts for quite a while. Very easy to use.
