Great fun
Bought as a gift for a child. Was told it was their favorite and when they go to their grandparents, it is what they immediately want to play. Very pleased. Received in time and product as described.

So much fun just as i remember!
Had as a child and i remember how much fun my cousins and i had with this, so I bought this for my children over Christmas break. We all had so much fun!

It takes a bit of maneuvering to start the Potato playing music
Overall, this is a fun product -- once you get it to work. And it does, but after we turn it on we have to press the "try me" button several times before it kicks in and starts to play music. If not for that, I would have rated this a "5". The child it was purchased for likes it, and so do the adults.

Great kids gift, comes with batteries
Who doesn't like Hot Potato? I bought batteries to be ready for Christmas but it came with batteries already installed and ready to go. (I didn't know that and had bought batteries.)

Do not purchase this!!!
It’s garbageMy grand really wanted this but it will not work correctly. Just keeps repeating hot potato over and over and never plays the game music. Possibly came with bad batteries but I’m not sure I want to waste more money to replace them. Its already past the 30 day window for return so I’m stuck with it

Fun and Easy Game; Alter strategy for age group.
Easy and fun game for players of all ages. The potato is a good size allowing for easy grasp for hands of all sizes. It is also soft and well padded, which comes in handy for those crazy throws; this means the electronics are protected and it shields users from the harder parts should they get hit with it. This is especially helpful when playing with kids of younger ages. The premise of the game is simple and the recording makes it clear at what stage of the round you are in. As opposed to "musical chairs," in this game, when you are "out" you actually get a potato chip. Once you collect 3 chips, you are out. Although this prolongs the game, it is slightly confusing for younger players, who might interpret getting something (chips) are them earning points or winning. But the game doesn't hinge on this rule, so it can be ignored as needed. The chips provided are made of card stock, but still easily damaged or lost. Because the game is not necessarily intended to be played around a table, players may have a hard time keeping ahold of their chips, which may contribute to damage/loss. Players may need a solution (such as chip keeper or chip table). Since there is no "game box" for this one, the chips can be stored in the velcro closure pocket that houses the on/off switch for the game, when the game is not in use.

Arrived with dead batteries
Update: sadly the hot potato didn’t work very long even with the new batteries. We passed it a few times, then the music stopped every time it was passed, then it died completely. Christmas gift was a dud and will send it back for a refund. The batteries were dead when I got it. I was giving as a Christmas gift & couldn’t disappoint a child with a toy they didn’t work. There was no easy way to get it out of the packaging so it is now taped together. It doesn’t have auto shut off, you have to open it up & turn it on and off which will be a problem for a 5 year old. There is no volume control which will be a problem for his parents. The description said AA batteries but it requires LR44 expensive ones. I read the reviews but bought it anyway hoping there were just random issues. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will work when it’s opened & be fun for a while. It’s cute as can be & a good concept but I’m a bit disappointed.
