Tricky install for a casual.
This was my first vent install, so I found a 'this old house' video on youtube. There were some caveats not covered in the videos i found.I used a 4" hole saw(s) to drill through two layers of shingles. You need to use a carbide tipped hole saw, or those shingles will sand the teeth right off your bit. I killed a harbor freight hole saw, sanded it flat - as shown. I thought it was a HF problem, so i bought an 'all-material' Milwaukee saw, and that one sanded flat too.I found you can use the cardboard packaging to help get things lined up with the shingles above. One side of the cardboard is slightly bigger, so there is a right/wrong side.I ended up trimming about a half inch off the duct collar to reduce the overall height and make it a bit easier to slide under the shingles.

Better for Flexible Duct Than Rigid Duct
This vent worked well for a bathroom exhaust fan. The one drawback is the diameter of the neck that fits through the roof sheathing. It will easily accept a 4" duct over the neck. That's fine if you want your flexible duct to go over the neck so you can clamp it. But, if you are working with rigid duct and you want the duct to go inside the neck, you have to put a severe crimp on it to get it to fit and then secure with screws before sealing.

Be careful on the ladder when you go to do the install.

Works as it should
Works like it should. Purchased for my small shed that houses my pool equipment. Installed it on the wall at the gable end. Installed a solar fan into it.

Good quality
It's on the roof. No leaks. Fart fan air comes out of it. It stinks

Noisy and rattles like crazy.
Build quality looks good but the damper is super noisy! Rattles all the time if there’s a slight wind. Now I have to get an inline damper, which adds to the cost!!!
