Best before date is 1st Dec 2018
Bought Orijen dry cat food in Sept 2018 for £18.99 with free delivery by One Stop shop. As anyone who's ever bought this particular brand knows, this is a really good price. It usually retails for around £25 with delivery on top. That said I wouldn't purchase from this seller again for one reason only. The best beforr date on the bag I received was 1st Dec 2018. This was OK this time round - even though I prefer to have longer than 2 months on cat food because I think, if its anything like human food, the flavour starts to deteriorate as it gets closer to it's use by - (crisps being a good example😊!) Anyway as I said, it was ok this time. My 5 month old kitten ate it and finished the bag a week or so ago.I was hoping this was old stock and that with my next order I'd get new stock with a longer best before date. I contacted the seller who confirmed bb is still 1st Dec 2018.I guess that explains why it's selling so cheaply - obviously a lot of stock to shift before 1st Dec.I just wanted to make customers aware of this before they purchase - especially if you don't think your cat will get through a bag by December 1st. I know some pets and their owners aren't fussed whether food is in date or not. But cats can be fussy little beggars.Aside from that, Orijen itself is a wonderful cat food. It's the only quality dry cat food I've found so far that my little kit will eat. She was on Felix and Go-Cat at the rescue centre and there was no way I was keeping her on that. So now she has a pouch of wet food (Natures Menu Country Hunter - which I'd also recommend) in the morning and she grazes on the Orijen throughout the day and into the night. This is a high protein food - 85% poultry, fish and eggs providing 40% protein. My little kit has tons of energy, a really glossy coat and isn't at all overweight even though she has 24/7 access to the Orijen.Another plus - no smelly, soft poops!I originally gave this 4 stars but that was more about the best before date - which is down to the seller rather than the product itself. So it seemed unfair to knock a star off for that when the product itself is fantastic.

great value, fantastic cat food
This stuff may be expensive, but (and I appreciate this is my experience, and may not be everyone's) I've found that my cat eats less of it so a 1.8kg bag lasts on average 3 months, so for me actually works out really reasonable. My large indoor cat LOVES it, and even takes it as treats, but doesn't eat huge amounts of it - I mentioned it to my vet because although he's a big, well toned cat, I was concerned he maybe wasnt eating enough - but when I told her it was Orijen she said "ah, not a problem then - if it's a nutrient rich cat food he just won't need or want to eat as much".Indeed the protein count is way higher than anything like whiskas or gocat, and it even looks and smells rich and meaty.I used to feed my cat Royal Canin, which seemed to be doing him great, but since changing to this I've noticed his coat is thicker and glossier, his claws are strong, and (when he's not unconscious!) he is consistently bright, alert sand active - even his litter tray appointments are like clockwork! He's not as keen on the fish variant (actually to be honest, he won't touch the stuff. Like sits by the bowl looking angry if I try to feed him it) but this meaty one is any absolute staple in our household! Admittedly I wish it was a bit cheaper, but I do think you get what you pay for in terms of quality

The only whole prey kibbles on the market
This is a great product and as far as I'm aware the only true whole prey dry food on the market - there's a wide variety of grain free brands on the market but none is whole prey. I'm gutted they stopped selling it on a pet website where I normally shop simply as it's not locally sourced (and although there is no alternative) so I'm happy I can still get it on amazon.Looks expensive but lasts much longer than other kibbles as it's packed with nutrients and protein so cats actually eat less than when feeding products with grain or other fillers (tapioca, potato starch..). Not to mention the savings on vets as both my cats are perfectly healthy thanks to this. They are happy, energetic indoor cats with healthy weight and silky fur and they love these kibbles as well. Originally wanted to feed them BARF but they both refuse the available frozen ranges (don't blame them as they look and smell quite unappealing) so we use these kibbles as a base and support with natural grain free wet food and raw meat (mainly chicken but also fish and occasionally beef).I cannot but recommend this product, especially as it works even for the fussiest of eaters!

My cat loves it
My cat absolutely loves it and I think this is one of the best dry cat foods you can get in the UK.Expiry date is slightly short (by Sept 2019) but I am pretty sure my cat is going to finish this well before the date.

My three cats love it!
I have three cats: two adults (one with grain intolerance) and a kitten. Kitten would notoriously eat adult kibble, so I was trying to find something suitable for all of them. This is one of the best foods available, grain free, high meat content, no nasties. I first bought a small bag to try and after receiving a purr of approval I bought the big 5.4kg. My cats get two wet meals a day and one portion of dry for supper - this big bag lasted two months for three of them. That works out only £8.30 per cat per month, so even though the price seems quite high to begin with it's actually very good value for money. My cats are obsessed and love this as much as treats. The only downside it, it's often out of stock with Amazon, so sometimes I have to order elsewhere.
