Impressive build quality with some high tech features
First off let me say that I did a modest amount of research on other products (geiger counters / dosimeters etc...), as well as the Mira brand ahead of time, but am not an all knowing expert when it comes to these types of products.Things I liked:- Came well protected, and in a sleek looking giftable box. I bought this one for myself because I was really interested to see how much radiation my wife, infant, and I are exposed to on the daily where we live (the things we do to protect family, haha), but could easily see myself buying another one as great a gift for a friend or family member.- I was also very impressed with the unboxing experience. Component placement, and attention to detail for the layout and design are on point.- The product has been working exactly as described in the description, and I am moderately impressed with how long of a battery life it has for the dosimeter (tldr, dosimeter with a long lasting battery life).- The picture does not do it justice just how high quality the product feels. I knew the Mira brand makes some good stuff before buying, and so I was betting on that carrying over to this also. Can confirm that it is solid, and I have little doubt it will continue to do what it was built for (I guess what im trying to say is that it is reliable portable geiger counter / radiation meter). (again tldr, high quality geiger meter that is reliable).- The computer / display portion on the product is simple, but leaps and bounds better than literally anything else I've found out there. There is the ability to customize the settings (which honestly I did not need to change, so I just left everything on default).-The radiation measurement accuracy also seems really consistent, as it should be.No major negatives on the product yet.- The packaging says its not fully waterproof (which, I was not expecting a geiger counter to be anyways)...- The product is a little pricey, but the quality and functionality far outweighs it (in a good way). I am strongly of the opinion that when it comes to safety, this is the type of thing where I would rather get the right product, instead of buying a cheaper less capable one that would probably end up failing when I need it.Overall, a solid recommend to purchase!

Works great, Do your research on what you are measuring
Great purchase, a little expensive, But if you're looking for a device like this, it's a better value than one might think. screen had a couple of glitches but fixed by charging.

defective and 3 months later still trying to return it!
Sent a defective product and will waste your time between seller and manufacturer for return! DO NOT shop from the seller or MIRA safety

Usefull but overpriced
I have a different brand of dosimeter and I wanted something a little bit better so I got this one. First of all, I am not impressed. When I opened the box, it appears as if this was a used item since the screen had small scratches on it. It says on the box a new item so humm. The item wold not turn on at first so I connected it to the charger for a while and it did finally turn on. The screen is small but nice and the values I get are comparable to the other one I have. So I an say it is accurate. The other thing I do like about it, is the size is very portable. Also, the instructions are nice and well layed out and easy to understand.I have given it 3 stars because, for the money, it isn't special and doesn't do anything my $35 doesn't do. In fact, my other ones has more information, a bigger screen, better graphics, and longer battery life.

This a real Geiger Counter
This is a real Geiger Counter, properly detecting radiation, tested with two test sources bought on Amazon. Not like the FNIRSI GC-01 that does not detect radiation coming from the same test sources.

its pricey
I am not sure what to make of this dosimeter. It is very compact and has a solar recharge option which would come in handy in certain life and death scenarios. The audible alarm may also come in handy as well. It has a wide temperature range it will work in, and is water resistant. I think my only concern will it be accurate if and when it counts, that's hard to test.

Functional and has good build quality, but VERY buggy.
This unit is a rebrand of the Milerd HiStand dosimeter. As others have mentioned, mine did not turn on out of the box; the status LED just gave an unhelpful green blink. Turns out, the battery just needs to be charged, but the status light doesn't act as a charge indicator. It seems like the unit has very high power draw in standby mode, as I need to charge it every few weeks because it runs the battery completely flat.On a positive note, the manufacturer included the required 5.1k pulldown resistors, so this unit WILL charge from a USB PD charger. While I initially thought the solar panel would be a gimmick, it does seem to noticeably extend runtime of the unit. Battery life seemed very good in general; leaving it running for eight hours on my desk barely touched the charge level.Anyway, once I was finally able to power the thing up, I found it did work pretty well for detecting low-level ionizing radiation sources, like a smoke detector or uranium glass. I have no idea to tell if it's accurate or not, since there's no certification, but it at least alerts you to the presence of radiation. I'd file it under "for reference/hobby use only."The real issues come about with the user interface. I've somehow managed to crash mine twice, with the display becoming corrupted. Another time, it got stuck making a constant beep, after turning the audio alert on, and continued even after the unit was shut off. Not something you want for equipment marketed as safety gear. It also never remembers its settings (units, audible signal enabled, sleep time) and the clock must be set every time you power it up. The audio alert also stops when the screen goes to sleep, although the LED still blinks. At least, the screen is very easy to read. This is also a fairly basic unit. There's an accumulated dose readout, and some basic statistics, but that's it. There's also no way to get statistics information out for review on a computer. It does show up as a USB device when connected to a computer, but not in a useful way.The case design seems somewhat rugged, although the clear plastic cover over the solar panel and screen has already started to accumulate scratches. I appreciate that the USB-C cover flap also doubles as a thumbrest when holding it in the hand, clever. Marketing and the manual are pretty wishy-washy about its waterproofness. It sounds like 'splashproof' is the appropriate term, because the manual says specifically not to submerge it.I find it difficult to recommend this product. It's extremely overpriced for such a basic unit, even if it is packed into a nice compact case. Anything from GQ offers better bang for buck. Even for hobbyist use, you can get a much cheaper kit using the same type of detector tube. That's not to say it doesn't function and do what it says, it's just not polished for featureful enough to demand its high price tag.The description for this item has since been fixed, but at the time of my original review, it was completely wrong. It showed a different product, which is an EMF detector. Because of this, I thought this Geiger counter would have that functionality packed in as well. Nope, ionizing radiation only, no EMF. Mira doesn't even seem to sell an EMF meter, so that's especially confusing. The meter shown appears to be a Millerd HiRange, consistent with the geiger counter being a re-branded Millerd unit.
