Dogfish 512GB SSD for MacBook PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 NVMe, Internal Solid State Drive Upgrade for MacBook Pro A1708 (2016-2017)

I installed on a 13 inch MacBook Pro 2017 Model A1708. I won't say it's easy If this is your first time opening your Mac to install a hard drive. It can be nerve racking wonder if you're going to do it right. I would watch a few YouTube video first to get comfortable with the process. There are only a here are major steps. 1. back up your Mac,. 2. Shut down. 3 Remove all screws from the back (the needed screw drivers come with the drive. 4. Pull the black tape from your battery connection.5 Disconnect the batter. 6. Release the battery cable and pull it free, then take out screw on battery terminal. 7. Remove black tape on SSD. 8. Remove the two screws holding the SSD in place. 9. Lift up and pull out the SSD. 10. Plug in the new SSD and put it all back together. When you restart hold down Command Option R. You will see a globe it you did it right. When it restarted choose your wireless network from the pull down menu. It will download a screen with Disk Utilities and reinstall choices. Choose disk utilities and reformat with APFS and GUID Partition Map. After it reformats, close the window and you will see a screen with the choices of how to reinstall the operating system. I tired from Time Machine back up, but it didn't work, then I tried Ventura download and install and it work. OS successfully installed and everything is working great.

Excellent price, excellent speed and quality. Has been reliable for many months now... To the point that it has become my "stable and reliable SSD" in my goto laptop, hosting windows while leaving the drab work to the Samsung SSD I used to use as the primary. This one has never so much as flipped a single bit on me. All data from point of initial use to now has always been able to be reliably and consistently accessed at wonderfully high speed. I will search this particular brand out from here on, as spending more for anything else would just be, stupid.

This SSD has brought new life to an almost 8 year old Samsung 700T notebook. After reading the reviews on this drive it gave me hope on giving my notebook some performance boot. So I replaced my SanDisk orgain drive. Complete OS reload took less than 10 minutes. And from power on to login is under 4 seconds when it would take about 25 with the original SanDisk drive.

Worked fine for 5 months, then suddenly not recognized. Brought it to Apple genius bar: they tried reinstalling it twice with no success. I put in the original SSD, which worked, then tried reinstalling the Dogfish -- again it was not recognized.Contacted Dogfish support via their webform -- got no response.

Thanks Dogfish. My 10 year old Thinkpad is now complete. The drive works great and came at an excellent price. The manufacture is a bit odd though. I know it is a company that most people have heard of (unless you have a friend who is Chinese and buys a lot of things that I wouldn't buy; as every other product they sell prior to these were not marketed directly to the U.S.). So the product works but if you can read Mandarin or understand "pictorial characters" (it is like Chinese writing for people there who can't read; something like that) their packaging contains some odd things. Examples: "Win with fast and wisdom" in English but the Chinese writing seems to suggest something more bold. Anyway good drive, good price, along with a odd feeling if you have the above friend translate it. (Language info from my Chinese neighbor of 30 years; edited by best friend who is actually an editor)

A much needed upgrade 128gb to 1tb 👏🏾👏🏾 fixed issue of laptop not loading local disk on the start up👏🏾👏🏾 Pretty straightforward uninstall/install process for the DIYer, just have to take your time with the right tools. Don’t forget to ground yourself⚠️
