Rats and mice hate these!!

It's a cliche, if you want to be successful, you have to build a better mousetrap. The larger bait plate is the difference this product delivers. It even caught a medium size rodent without bait. A universal adversary to all size species.

The instructions were a bit unclear on how to set it. I found a good video showing how to do it ("How to Set a Victor Professional Rat Trap" by YouTube channel DoMyOwn). I placed a small amount of peanut butter in the bait cup, put the trap up against the wall, turned off the lights in the basement, and in the morning I found the pictured dead rat. The video included a good safety tip to always face the bait platform away from you while setting the trap to avoid getting injured if it goes off accidentally. The video also suggested using some "attractant" liquid, but I had peanut butter on hand, which worked fine. The rat previously ate several squares of dark chocolate, so I suspect a chocolate chip would work as well. Maybe Nutella to split the difference if you have some.I didn't see any signs of struggle like scratches on the wooden platform, so I think it probably killed the rat quickly without excessive suffering.We think it was just one rat (🤞) , but I intend to set another trap to make sure. Will update the review if I have more success or run into issues with future traps.

Rats. Lots of rats. I thought I’d try and get as many as I can and am familiar with these kinds of traps.Three of them broke the first time I tried to set them. The yellow plastic thingys snapped in half.Ended up un-aliving several varmints. So yeah, these work. It’s just a bummer that I lost three right out the gate. I wonder how long the remaining traps will work. It’s scary enough setting them. My thumb got snapped a couple of times. But the trigger thingy (the yellow piece), isn’t too trustworthy. Yikes.I recommend these types of traps, but get the ones that don’t have the plastic bate pad thingy.

This is a standard rat trap with a design that has been around for a long time. However, 3 of the 12 traps that I purchased as a set were either broken or defective upon delivery. The plastic bait platform was broken in half on one trap and the bait platform lip on two more was damaged to the point that bar would not stay hooked when attempting to cock the trap. I had to adjust five of the remaining traps with a pair of pliers so the bar would stay hooked when the trap was cocked. Very poor workmanship and no quality control.

I keep having rats lick this plastic thing clean and not trip the trap. WASTE OF MONEY. What happened to the original metal version?

These are easier to set than another brand that I bought. Hooking the wire under the plastic bait tray is fairly easy.
