Pentel AX105-AO Fiesta Automatic Pencil, Lead, Grade HB, 1 Pack of 12 Pencils,Black Barrel 0.5mm

Really impressed with these pencils. Graphite is strong and smooth and darker than I anticipated. Definitely my favourite automatic pencil for fine detail and excellent for under-drawing and adding accents to watercolour painting. Eraser is excellent too.

Now these are what teenage son thinks are the best in mechanical pencils. Using for school and a box of twelve on such a good price made for a really good buy. No digging into fingers even if been using them for a long time lesson wise. The leads don’t seem to break easily either which is even better. Think I would rebuy these for sure when the time comes for these to be replaced but don’t think that will be any time soon with there being twelve in the box. This box the pencils are all black have noticed you can get different colours in them.

I love these pencils there is nothing that could be improved. If I have a gripe, it is why are the green ones (my favourite colour barrel) so much more expensive than the black?

Superb automatic pencil. I find automatic pencils so much easier for children to use in school & encourage much neater writing.

My comments should be understood in the context of comparing Pentel to Pentel, not to other to other low-end mechanical pencils.Compared to any other brand, these pencils are far superior in comfort of use. Therefore, the following refers only to comparison with other brands.The price for quality is remarkable. No, there is no cushioning, but that can't be expected in this sort of purchase. However, they are remarkably comfortable. The ridges don't dig into my fingers any more than a smooth-barrelled pencil, yet they do hold it in place in my hand. The eraser is larger than usual, as claimed, though no larger than Pentel's usual larger size. The action to push the lead out is smooth and easy.At this early stage, it isn't possible to comment on longevity, but at the price, none was expected. However, they do have the feel of ones that will last awhile, which is, in my experience, unusual. Sad to think of this sort of product as disposable, but they usually seem to be. As Pentel fan- not for longevity, obviously, but experience in using them - these feel like they'll last at least as long as any I've had before, and probably longer.
