We have a couple of American Bulldog puppies that are sizing up fast. Something had to be done to get them under control. This is a farm scenario, where these dogs are outside a lot and there to protect livestock, but as puppies will do, they key off each other and start chasing the livestock they're supposed to protect. I've never wanted to employ a "shock" collar, but this situation was going to be dire. Low and behold, this is probably the most humane method of training, especially for a stubborn dog. Started with a cheap set that got us over the idea that it was "mean" and the results were immediate. Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks, they began to ignore those collars (felt a little like putting a 9V battery on your tongue). The Dogtra collars arrived the day after I ordered them, fully charged and ready to go. I tried one of them out on my hand set at 30, and yowser, that'll get your attention but causes no injury. The dial on the remote allows easy changes in amount of correction, and the "Nick" mode is over almost before it started. Two days in with the new collars, and the dogs respond perfectly to the "pager" function, which is a little like vibration mode on your cellphone. It'll interrupt the dog's train of thought so it can hear your command. The beauty of it is, you can train your dog to a sweet sounding command, rather than losing your temper with it and expecting the dog to come running to you. It's not "remote control dog", using it sparingly, and letting the dog commit to the mistake before correction is the key to success. The "High Output" models are for bigger dogs (our Bulldogs are 4-1/2 months old and already weigh 55-60 lbs) and the collars have significant weight. You may want to go to Dogtra's sales site (on Amazon) look at the different types of systems they have and watch the video on how to select. We found that very helpful. All in all, this is probably the best purchase we've made since getting the dogs. One more thing I'd like to add, this system is really high quality. Definitely worth paying extra for.

This product will change a frustrated dog owners life! We have 2 large dogs that love wild adventures. Other products failed to meet our needs. Specifically, we wanted to travel without leashes, using a clear and safe behavior system, that was waterproof, and one control device for both dog collars. Dogtra met all of this needs and then some. Charging station is convenient. Battery holds a charge for about 1 1/2 days use (assuming it's always powered "on"). However, we take them off at night and charge nightly as routine.It's an easy to use, incredibly durable, waterproof (submerged), easy to change (and visually see) control levels. This is a great feature and safe to change control depending on dog collar intended. One of our dogs has a long thick coat and he loves to suddenly dash away on a bird chase. He requires a stronger prompt that our other dog. Our other dog has short, fine hair. He is also generally more physically sensitive/aware. We use a lower level intensity for him. However, he also has a rare history of bolting and not responding to controlled prompt. Dogtra easily and quickly can be changed to met needs of dogs current behavior.This is the most important aspect for me to share. This product is not a miracle, dog owners must train their dog to the device before expecting the dog to understand expectation. Using a physical redirection behavior device, does not work without the dog understanding what the different commands mean. (This may sound like common sense, but when I was a young first time dog owner, I failed to properly train before using) We choose to train our dogs inside the house only for the first week or two. Daily training indoors, before used outdoors. When we moved to training outdoor, we used it only in our yard until they mastered that area. Eventually they became so we'll behaved that they attend my children's soccer games... And all the fans love our "good" "sweet" "well behaved" dogs. So nice to enjoy the game vs having to manage a leash twisted, sudden pulling alternative.Over a year later, I am daily thankful we invested in Dogtra. We don't stress in public areas about bolting. We are confident in our dogs behavior because Dogtra shelled teach them expectations. We rarely need to use the more intense command. After training and a few forgetful moments, both dogs became less unmanageable off leash. We laugh that sometimes we don't even know the collars are turned off because they are so well behaved know.It's a dog owners way to leash freedom to enjoy a stressless walk, hike, swim!I recommend this product to all outdoor adventure dog owners. Or to any dog owner who is looking for a successful dog behavior training system. You won't be disappointed.
