The Secret Garden is a delightful read for both children and adults,
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett is a classic children's novel that weaves themes of resilience, friendship, and the healing power of nature into an enchanting story. The book follows Mary Lennox, a spoiled and lonely child who is sent to live with her uncle at Misselthwaite Manor in England after her parents' death. Initially sour and self-centered, Mary discovers a hidden, neglected garden on the estate. As she begins to nurture the garden back to life, she undergoes a personal transformation, becoming kinder, more empathetic, and filled with purpose.Mary's interactions with Dickon, a nature-loving boy, and Colin, her sickly and reclusive cousin, form the heart of the story. Together, they explore the wonders of the garden, which becomes a metaphor for their emotional and physical healing. Burnett beautifully captures the innocence of childhood and the restorative power of the natural world. The novel’s rich descriptions of the Yorkshire moors and the garden itself create a vivid and immersive setting. While some of the language and cultural attitudes reflect the time it was written (1911), the core message of growth, renewal, and the importance of human connection remains timeless.Strengths:Engaging and memorable characters.Lush, evocative descriptions of nature.A heartwarming story of personal growth and friendship.Weaknesses:Some dated language and perspectives.A slower pace that might not appeal to all modern readers.Overall, The Secret Garden is a delightful read for both children and adults, offering a timeless reminder of the beauty that can be found in the world around us—and within ourselves.

Must read book
It is story about a small girl she was used to be very negative initially but after passing days in a secret garden she became very positive.Explanation of characters is really good. I liked how writer explained the garden and it's beauty. At the end of story everyone becomes positive. A father started loving his child.

Well written children's classic novel
Book :The Secret GardenAuthor : Frances Hodgson BurnettPages : 250Publication : Kindle editionThe secret Garden is a classic children's novel set in the 1900s.The story revolves around three kids, the orphaned queer child Miss Mary who is moved from India to England to live with his guardian Mr. Craven. His unloved uncared child after the death of his wife in labour who is spoilt and throws tantrums Master Colin who is believed to be sick and might not live long. The free spirited happy go lucky animal charmer kid from the moor Dickson who adds colours to the story right from the start. They come upon each other and the secret garden brings them together and believe it to be magical. The magic of believing turns the garden and the kids to be flourishing into blossoming.I loved the Mother of Dickson, all too loving and caring and understanding the kids better. The description of nature in the author's words is way too refreshing and lively and the storyline is perfect and the characters evolving through the story is practical and well written. If not for the racist comments that is peppered in between while mentioning about India making me wish it could have been written differently , this is definitely one of the best classic coming of age novel I have read so far.

A must read !
Title : The Secret GardenAuthor : Frances Hodgson BurnettGenre : Children’s ClassicPages : 364Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5The story is about Mary Lennox, a 10 year old girl who was utterly sour by nature and had never experienced life in its best form. Her life turned upside down when her parents died in India due to cholera breakout in the country and she was sent to Yorkshire to live at her uncle’s house, Mr Craven...Back then in India Mary was a stubborn kid who didn’t have the habit of doing anything on her own like wearing shoes or dressing up as her Ayah used to do everything for her. Once she moved to Yorkshire, she had to do all the little things on her own which irked her initially but later as Martha imbibed behavioural manners in her she became confident and independent..Once Mary got used to the new surroundings she started exploring different areas around the house. Soon she discovered that there were beautiful gardens around it and one secret garden which was banned from entering. This increased her curiosity to visit the secret garden.During that time, she met two extremely different personalities, Dickon and Colin who became an essential part of the tale as well as Mary’s life. ..On one hand, Dickon was an animal charmer and an extremely positive person who helped Mary to look at the beautiful and serene side of life and nature. On the other hand, Colin, son of Mr. Craven was a child who had an extremely negative approach towards life as he was in constant fear of death. ..Soon, the three of them shared an unbreakable bond of friendship and a secret. My Review :There is so much that we can take from this book. It makes us believe in the magic of nature and teaches us to express gratitude towards life. One needs to put aside negative thoughts and let in positivity which could make a huge difference in one’s life. Life is all about living and embracing the beauty around us. This book is a must read for each and everyone. Please read this book, even if you are 10 or 40 years old. Though it’s a children’s classic but I’m sure that adults would also love this book as much as children.
