Great tool for woodworking.
This was a gift for my husband. He has been using it quite often with his woodworking. He loves the feel of it, says it is sharp and accurately performs the task on hand. Happy with purchase.

It's japanese steel. Stop pretending there's anything better.
"But the germans"."The Chinese are getting really good at it".Stop. Just stop.Bladed steel has been mastered by the japanese for centuries. Around the same time their alphabet was being created someone realized the bends in rivers cause minerals to build up in the sand there. This sand helps create the finest steel on earth. The Hanjo Musamane is a single sword credited with winning multiple wars and bringing about 250 years of peace in Japan. Ever seen "Shogun"? Yea. That guy. Not that smart. Not that cunning. He just happen to have a sword made by GOD.Anyway, you can't do better. Stop trying. You might have to strop the edge half a dozen times after unboxing, but other than that it's ready to go. Get one. No, get five. You won't be disappointed.

Really liking Japanese chisels.
Have used this more than I expected on various projects. I’m really enjoying my hand tools. Glad I have this chisel.

Mini hollow
It's more than 1/8" tall, not quite mortise chisels level thick, but more than the width.

Game changing over box store chisels
The media could not be loaded. I needed a stronger, more durable chisel for working with oak and other hardwoods, as my store-bought chisels would often develop rolls and burrs after tackling just a single dovetail. That’s when I decided to try the Suizan 6mm (1/4") Japanese chisel, and I’m glad I did—Japanese chisels consistently deliver exceptional quality for the price. This chisel arrived pre-sharpened with a double bevel, but it wasn’t quite as sharp as I could achieve with my budget chisels. However, after starting at 1500 grit and working my way up, I had it razor-sharp in just 10 minutes—sharp enough to shave hair! The flat bottom required no additional preparation, which was a nice surprise. From there, it performed exceptionally well, powering through oak with ease. The difference was truly night and day. I was able to cut all the dovetails without needing to repeatedly sharpen the blade, which is a game-changer.The wood handle is smaller but surprisingly comfortable, and it has the added benefit of being much quieter to strike compared to my previous chisels with metal shaft handles. Its longer length and similar weight is another bonus, providing added control and leverage.Overall, this chisel is a fantastic investment for anyone venturing into hand tools. It offers incredible value and makes woodworking a more enjoyable and efficient experience.
