Very effective
We have an infestation of invasive Tree of Heaven sprouts in our backyard. Unfortunately, weeding is also a pruning job cause of it, and using manual shears is hard on the back and tiresome. If these don't slice through the first time, the follow up cut does the job soundly. Seriously, these are so powerful for being so compact, and despite sticking a Lithium Ion battery on it, the weight is very manageable. It doesn't feel overly sturdy, but sturdy enough to last a couple years at least. The few things I can critique on it are: the power button on the base is very stiff, small and, at times, hard to press; the startup time is kind of long, lasting several seconds after its turned on before it actually is ready to go; and there's very little in the way of safety. To that last point, the shears default state is actually open, and no closed. I'm guessing it's so someone doesn't accidentally clip their finger off when turning this off, but having to clip, THEN turn it off feels weird.Bottom line though? These accept the DeWalt 20v MAX battery, works perfectly with it, and is cheap compared to actual DeWalt brand tools. It's worth it, easily.

So far, so good. No reliability issues, lots of power, long battery life, light weight.
There were several negative reviews here saying it quit soon, so I put it to heavy use right away for springtime pruning. It has not failed. Its operation takes a little getting used to, and it's hard to hear its little beep, which might explain users thinking it was dead. Its display counts how many cuts you do per session. Not sure who needs that ...The blades aren't top quality, but for the price that can't be expected. They are decent quality. There is a spare blade included in the box. The blades have stayed in alignment so far after 2 weeks of heavy use. The box is a nice touch. The half-open jaw setting was a mystery to me at first. Then I was trimming branches that had grown thru a chain link fence, and suddenly I saw a good use for half-open. It's a nice option when you need it. It easily cut the fence too once. Oops, but the blade damage was slight and does not affect operation.Power is impressive. It will cut most anything that fits in its jaws. Occasionally, a tough branch will need several retries, or repositioning the jaws deeper for more leverage.M18 system compatible batteries are easy to find at fair prices. It's a good choice. The overall weight is good. It's light enough to trim fruit tree branches overhead while on a ladder. Despite heavy use, the battery has never gone below 3 out of 4 LEDS on the battery. The battery level on the pruners little screen seems not very reliable btw.Overall, a good buy. Should it fail, I'll edit this review to reduce the stars.

Extremely powerful and fast, yet lightweight and almost effortless.
Absolutely the best garden tool that I've bought in years. The weight and balance of the tool, even with the larger 20v battery is fine. It cuts through one inch branches like the proverbial hot knife through butter. It does take a while to learn how to start the pruner, adjust the cutting width and then turn it off. The blade is incredibly sharp and the cutting action is very fast so extreme caution is required when it's used. If you're tired, or not thinking about what you're doing, it might be best to leave the tool in the box until you're ready. If it cuts through a one inch branch in about a second, think how fast it could remove one of your fingers if you weren't paying attention. Still, this is an amazing tool for the price.

Good tool, worked great, very easy pruning
The tool worked first time out of the box. Very strong, up to 1" limbs with ease. Not sure of the durability as it is not DeWalt, but so far so good. So much easier to prune.

Great value, stop pruning by hand
Works with Makita LXT batteries, sharp, and comes with spare parts! These work fantastically and maybe it's not a positive note, but These puppies will chop your finger right off. It wouldn't even slow down.

GAME CHANGED, THESE ARE SOOOooooo GOOD, POWERFUL!!!
I just used this tool for 45 minutes straight on a clone Makita-18V-style 6A battery. When I told my wife what I was going to do she laughed and sneered and said "yea right". She came to watch the show. The power pruner ate everything up to and sometimes including 1". It makes pruning an overgrown tree a breeze, raise that annoying canopy (you know the one). I love this tool. If it broke I would order another immediately. I have a lot of Makita brand 18V 5A batteries so I should be all set for some monster pruning jobs ahead. Plants grow fast here in Central Florida, this tool makes it easier to bring them into control.

Great tool!
These work very well. The Dewalt battery works great in them & they cut very well. I’m amazed how little battery power they use. Very good purchase.
