GREAT product for gel fuel, Don’t use most online recipes
The media could not be loaded. First off I’d like to think the guys at Chemcenter For being so patient and helpful right off the bat. In the video I said they responded within a day, but it was actually within an hour. I used a lot of the recipes for the gel fuel that I found online, but none of them worked, repeatedly. I told the seller that I’d been sent the wrong product, and they offered to send me a new batch and refund me the money. With this new batch I tested a new recipe that I found in some obscure location on YouTube, and that ended up working. As I explained in the video you want to use one part of powdered calcium acetate and mix that with two parts of warm water. If you don’t use enough water, the calcium acetate will become a very Clumpy and useless white lump. Make sure to dissolve it at this ratio right off the bat. I store an larger amount of dissolved calcium acetate in a water bottle so that it is always ready. I then make my gel fuel by pouring about 1 tablespoon per 1/4 cup of alcohol. You can eye ball this and keep adding a bit more calcium acetate solution as needed, this isn’t precision rocket science here. After your first time measuring it precisely, you’re just gonna eyeball it—you know it.This is the cheapest alcohol that I can find at the moment but Isopropyl alcohol is pretty cheap and slightly less toxic because it doesn’t have any methanol in it, but either are clean burning and smokeless. DONT CONSUME DENATURED ALCOHOL. (Just want to throw that out there.) Once the coronavirus is over, Isopropyl alcohol will be easier to find and what I will use. The gel fuel is easy to use inside, produces no smoke, no fumes, and if you sprinkle a little bit of oil in it, it can crackle slightly. I highly recommend buying this powder instead Of doing the egg/chalk method because that takes too much work. #indoorsmoores for the kids !?!?Little wooden stand I built for the gel fuel as an indoor fireplace stand. Imagine how creative you could get with these builds? Keep the width of the gel fuel containing area to about 1 inch for this sized flame height. You can make it as dee and tall as you want, but keep the width to about 1-1.5 inches for indoor decorations.Thank you chemcenter!!

Works Well for Homemade Fire Starter
Don’t have a way to quantify the purity, but it is very clean and consistent. Excellent results when mixed with isopropyl.

Makes alcohol gel
I've made alcohol gel with this. But, it only works with 90%, or higher, isopropyl alcohol....will NOT work with 70%

This is not calcium acetate
I'm not sure what this is but it is not calcium acetate. I was purchasing this to make a fire gel and if it were calcium acetate it would react with ethanol alcohol and this did not. I also find it very curious that there's no refund at all given Amazon's return policy for other sellers. If you're looking for calcium acetate DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!
