SonyXperia Z1 UK Sim Free Smartphone - Black

Ok so here are the facts...I love Sony - owning the Xperia Z tablet, 2x Sony telly's, Sony amp, Sony 5.1 speakers, PlayStation,a Vita and in the last few years the SG2, iPhone 4s, then SG3 and SG4....you'll notice my phone's in recent years haven't been Sony...this is because (as much as I wish they weren't as I love Sony) Sony phones have been utter rubbish and really behind the curve.It is little wonder then that last year Sony were losing money in large amounts and so restructured the company and aligning all their different tech departments to work together in development to help one another in their specialist areas (Camera Department, T.V department, PlayStation Department, Walkman Department, Phone Department, etc).I'm DELIGHTED to report that this is without a shadow of a doubt the best phone I've ever held in my hand in terms of beauty, quality and of state-of-the-art technology.The phone is big, but I like that...it's not to big that it's intrusive but it's larger than your average phone these days. I love the black glass look and feel....and matches with my Sony t.v. and Xperia tablet.The camera is great (although I think some software updates will soon make it even better), I also love the fact it's waterproof and am eagerly waiting to take some under water pictures on holiday next month (note - instructions advise swimming pools are fine but not salt water).The battery life for such a big, wonderful and vibrant screen is amazing...and charges at a very good speed (unlike my Xperia tablet) and enabling Sony's STAMINA mode (auto switches off Wi-Fi and 3/4g when screen goes to sleep and then auto switches them back on when a button is pushed) means I'm getting a good day and a half of battery life from heavy playing and use.I love the remote control function, the screen mirroring function and the 'throw' function which allows images, music or videos to be sent to another device.I also find the signal (contrary to a few reviews on here) is superb - better than my G4 and WiFi strength very good around my house. It comes with a screen protector already fitted during manufacture - but also a spare/additional screen protector sheet should you need it/want to add it.I haven't been this excited or enjoying playing around with my new phone for a long long time, and whilst I've been pleased with my Galaxy Phones...they were bland...they were good - but they were missing something - they just weren't exciting!I love this...I thing it's great...it's super fast and super cool and would urge anyone looking to get a top end phone...do your homework, hold the phones and hopefully like me...you'll choose this...it is bloody fantastic and I'm looking forward to my delivery of the Sony Smartwatch and additional lens (QX10)...two other gadgets that show Sony is back to the top... so please Sony...take a bow!I hope this helps somebody...enjoy your phone!

I bought this phone from Amazon 18 months ago for nearly £400. After relying on it for all sorts of things it has crashed, the screen is blank and the handset is completely useless. I connected it to my computer which indicates it is completely devoid of files. In other words, all my data has been lost. Thanks a bunch Sony! I was planning on getting a Z3 or better early next year but I'll never buy another Sony product again now. A few months ago I downloaded a routine Sony system update and afterwards found it had removed the screen auto-rotate function and for all I know is responsible for this latest complete system failure as well. Who knows? Amazon tell me it will take around 10 days to repair, if at all, so not much help there either. In the meantime, I'm going on holiday tomorrow with no phone, no data, no nothing. Useless and I'm angry as hell...

I've been pondering a new phone since spring and have awaited the launch of many different handsets since then. The Galaxy S4, Htc One, Xperia Z were all on my radar at some point. The S4 sadly felt too cheap, and poorly made as did the Xperia Z, I was all set to order the HTC one then sony dropped the Z1 on the market and I was swayed.The HTC one has a fantastic build quality as others will testify but the Sony comes very close and offers a real premium feel and a larger screen. And what a screen it is. Colours are amazing and HD content is so easy to watch whilst on the go. Streaming movies on this is so much better than my previous handset and is actually quite an enjoyable experience. Yes it does not have the front facing speakers of the HTC but the sound is never the less not bad at all.I've yet to try the waterproofing on the phone as It steel feels mighty wrong to put something electronic in water but I am sure it would be fine. I would however recommend the DK31 docking station as I feel the constant opening and closing of the charger flap will eventually compromise the protection it currently gives, and on that subject be careful when unplugging the charger that you do not pull then flap at the same time as I have almost done this twice now.All in all I've had the phone almost a week and still have that new gadget excitement that treating yourself to something new delivers. The offer with the free smart watch is a must have and at the current price a bargain.
