Derale 13504 Series 8000 Plate and Fin Transmission Oil Cooler , Black

Installed on LEXUS GX470 to replace the OEM unit with a much larger cooler. Fabrication of brackets was needed obviously however this was easily 3x larger than oem. I have noticed trans temps are down 15* in traffic. Will be testing soon while towing camping trailer.

Haven't towed with it yet. much more work than you would think it would be after watching online videos. lots of work to remove bumpers and underside guards, and cut out the hole for the transmission lines in the plastic shield. (had to remove ours). Use a heat gun to heat up the hose to stretch it over the radiator/transmission lines....also lube them with fluid. Anyway, I'm sure this thing will be absolutely amazing and add a lot of life to the transmission. I still plan on changing the fluid every 20,000 miles.

Got this for my 2015 Toyota Tundra with a 4.6 liter engine. Needed to also purchase the thermostat from toyota for the 4.6 (part listed for 2014 truck).This lowed my transmission temperature by 20 degrees all the time. Before installing this cooler my trans would float between 200 to 220 for regular driving and peak at 230 while towing a 5k lb travel trailer (not sure if would go higher because at this point I pulled over to let it cool).After installing regular driving floats between 180 and 200. Normally around 200 while towing. Max temp I have seen is 213 after installing this cooler (third gear 55mph up hill while towing)

Before installation, my Chevy 1500 5.3 with 4 speed auto would see transmission temps above 210 F while pulling our 7000 lbs 5th wheel at 45 mph with the ambient temp at 90F. The engine was also running hot. Now I pull the trailer at 65 mph in 100F ambient temp and never go above 190F on the transmission. On cooler days ( 90F and below) the transmission will stay between 160-180.Side note- I recommend also purchasing with the thermostat fluid control valve. On cold days when temps are 45 and below, when not towing, the transmission fluid would be over cooled and sometimes not make it over 120F. On colder days when it is freezing, the transmission would only get up to 103F. Great product overall.

I put this on my 2008 corvette due to high transmission temperatures from an after market stall converter. I mounted it to the front of the condenser and I’m seeing about a 50° drop in temperatures after bypassing the radiator! I will probably have to install a thermostat because it’s dropping so low during cooler weather. Only reason it gets 4 stars is that the package came a bit damaged and looked slightly used but I’m too lazy to go return it and that the hose that comes with it is a bit tight. I’d recommend 3/8 hose with two clamps on both barbs and buying whatever other fittings and clamps you might need. I will be buying again

Installed in a few hours on a 2018 silverado. Longest part was checking, double, and triple checking the actual transmission lines on the truck before the install. it is a tough install and you'll bust a few knuckles if you don't want to take out and apart too many components but you are able to work it in there and get it secured. Keeps trans temps on the silverado below 200 degrees even in the Shenandoah towing a 30ft travel trailer in the grey area for the Silverado. Gives me confidence without having a truck with the right rear end gearing and a diesel.

Installed this Derale (part #13504) external trans cooler on my '01 Chevy truck and '01 Chevy Tahoe. It fit great with minimal modification. Search YouTube for "Trans Cooler Install, '01 Chevy Truck 1500".This cooler has been working great for us and will make the 4l60e trans last much longer here in the southern US States. Where we live in Texas, it's common to see 4L60E transmissions go out by 100k miles because of the extreme heat we have. So if you live in a hot climate area and tow or drive you vehicle hard, a cooler like this is a must. It will save your trans and the headache of paying $1200 to have it rebuilt.

I connected this cooler in series with the factory internal radiator cooler on my Chevy Express van and it dropped the transmission temp 50 degrees.
