Lots of airflow, lots of drainage, lots of room for roots. The mesh in the bottom helps hold the bark in. The hanging wires are shapable and thick so you can use them a lot of ways depending on the type of orchid you're hanging. The large 10 inch size is very generous.

I had hoped one of these baskets would work for a vanda orchid that is growing out of its pot, but these baskets are still too big and they are seriously robust. My little vanda has some growing to do before it is ready to move into even the smallest of these baskets. The largest one is big enough and strong for a cat to sleep in.If you handle these, be sure to wear leather garden gloves. The texture is not easy on hands. Worse, the wire for the hanger is very stabby. Again, it is incredibly sturdy. If you wanted to hang an orchid in a windstorm, these are your baskets.Now if you have large orchids and need something sturdy enough to stand up to years of growth, I would recommend these highly. Especially if you are in a place where you can grow year around outside. Watering indoors with baskets this big and heavy is a challenge for me.My own orchids have years to go before they need these. I'm currently using them as carryalls for groups of orchids in their own individual baskets and it's working for that. I am sure that these quality baskets will outlive me and my orchids.

These three baskets, with wires, are exactly like the ones you purchase in the garden store or orchid specialist, just for a lot less money. You can line them with screen or just put in coarse media or, if you're using them for Vandas, just attach the plant firmly to the lower portion of the basket to keep the roots from rubbing off in the wind. Good value.
