Absolutely the best book to use while traveling Australia!!
Just came back from a 4-week trip traveling all around Australia. We used the book extensively to find restaurants, places to see, and things to do. We loved the maps especially for the details of getting around!

Not bad for those who are only trekking
This book contains a LOT of information, most of which appears to be aimed at young travelers who want to bike around the country, find accomodations, food and nightlife. There is NO reference to leisure activities like golf (VERY popular in Australia), science (large radiotelescope array near Canberra) or native plant/animal species. I returned it for the Fodor book.

Don't bother with this book.
We have relied on the Lonely Planet guidebook several times over the last 30 years. Never again will we do that. The latest version for Australia was a waste of money. Their focus was on eating, drinking and nightlife. Very little on places to stay, places to avoid and general travel
