I bought this after we had had one too many spills on the carpet in the sitting room. Nobody tells you children spill everything they touch, it should be in book. Anyway, it arrives in many pieces but the instruction guide is pretty decent and putting it together doesn’t take long. Everything has a reassuring feel to it and it clicks together well. It is quite heavy though so that is something to consider.Filled it, plugged it in and off we went. I started on the “rinse” option. The gentler of the two and I was gobsmacked. The sheer amount of dirt that came up from the carpet. Even in areas that haven’t been sullied by direct juvenile action the amount of dirt that came up was astonishing. The carpet was damp afterwards but not uncomfortably so and dried really quickly.Sitting on the sofa that evening I was talking to my other half and she said “well at least you got everything out of the carpet now…” oh how wrong she was. The next day I decided to do it again on full power and again, the liquid that came off the carpet was almost black. As I moved through the rest of the house in a miasma of conflicting emotions, joy and disgust, I looked up other people’s experiences and realised I was in good company. This is a common response to the first time use.Now, a month or so later and I have used it numerous times and the water is no longer black it is more a muddy river brown but the carpets feel, smell, and look, amazing. Even with a deep clean on a cold winter day they dry within a couple of hours.I would wholeheartedly recommend. It isn’t a vacuum cleaner mind so make sure to vacuum first but as a carpet cleaner it is amazing.5 stars.

Cleans carpets very well and makes a noticable difference. Automatic combining of water and carpet cleaner is super convenient, no messing around working out ratios of solution to water.Machine is heavy when water tank is full and very loud.Spot attachment is useful but it's better suited to cleaning carpets than it is to spot cleaning (You don't want to try and do a lot of stairs with it.For some carpets that are very prone to lint, it will get bogged up very easily and it can be a pain to clean the Vax out as the small suction piece on the front of the unit is not openable so you have to find some awkward angles and possibly use a pin or hair clip to free some of the trapped dirt.Overall it cleans well, could just be a bit more practical.

Great product, easy to use and put together out the box, nice tank sizes, really made a difference to my carpets, no leakages and look good. Recommend this if your carpets are looking dirty, then to do quarterly to maintain the clean feel of the carpet.

Purchased this Carpet Cleaner as a family member has 1 and reviews.My 1st time using a carpet cleaner, so it was all new to me.Easy to assemble, plenty of cord length, fine sturdy machine not flimsy, despite all the plastic.Filled it with the amount stated of warm water and Vax cleaner fluid.Did a super job, both in cleaning and rinsing.Great suction left nothing behind.Extra squirt of water jet very handy.Very easy clean and remove parts, regarding the removal of the fluff that lodges in the front of head after use, rather than disassemble, I unplugged and put the head over the bath and used the shower head to rinse it all out while still wet, did the job.Did not give a star rating for stairs, as I have not yet used it on them.Have not yet used all the extras that came with it.Overall, very pleased with this Vax Carpet Cleaner and would recommened it.

I live in a very full, very busy household. We bought this as the light brown carpets take a real battering between the six adults and one black hound. Honestly, having had carpet cleaners in the past I wasn't expecting much, but wanted to clean the carpets before they got so bad they couldn't be saved.The machine was easy to assemble, with the instructions being simple to follow. It's quite a heavy bit of kit, so probably not ideal for anyone with issues lifting and it is fairly bulky too. Having said that the handles helped make it easier to carry up and down the stairs.In terms of its actual cleaning ability, I was shocked. The amount of dirt this cleaner pulled up from the fairly low pile carpet was insane. The fluid was black after just a couple of passes, three fresh tanks later we were still getting grime up! It really made me question, where all the dirt was coming from, as we don't wear shoes in the house. Not only did it pull up grime, mud, spilled drinks, dropped food and doggy disasters.....but it also removed masses of short dog hairs that were well and truly embedded in the carpet.After, cleaning the carpet looked brand new and smelled amazing (we used the scented Vax liquid).The only downside I would say, is that the carpet needs a while to fully dry out afterwards. It doesn't seem to suck as much liquid back up as I would like....but that may just be unrealistic expectations on my part. We tend to just wait until we know we can stay out of a room overnight before cleaning the carpet.I would really recommend this to anyone who has a busy house full of adults who eat meals in their rooms, have jobs that involve bringing the outdoors in and have pets. Well worth the money!
