Worth having as an adult
This may be labeled for kids, but I first bought a copy for myself at a birding shop. I liked it so much that I ordered another copy through Amazon for a grandson. This guide is very colorful, well organized and has a lot of information. Although he is a thousand miles northeast of me, it still fits for his state, and he is near some good birding areas.

What bird throws up on you if you make him nervous.
If you live on a hill, have tall trees, and want to identify who those magnificent guys are who are soaring around up there on the thermals, this is a great book. As a 72-year-old “kid”, I wasn’t interested in all the scientific jargon, I just wanted to tell them apart, learn their habits, and know who is sharing my yard spaces. Co-author (the late) Charles Smith was a personal friend and I knew he’d have researched things a kid would want to know, such as what bird throws up on you if you get too close. I recommend this book and its beautiful full-page illustrations to kids young and old.

In-depth coverage of raptors for young readers -- The best book on raptors for this age group I've seen...
...and I've seen a lot of them! (maybe 30 or more different children's books on raptors and birds)Many bird and raptor books for this age group are very basic and fairly sparse in detail, probably because they're written based on the assumption that most young readers would be overwhelmed by too much information. But my raptor-loving 7-year-old son poured over the library copy of Raptor! for many weeks, checking it out several times. After spotting a bird of prey in the sky a few times, he grew interested in raptors. Within a month, he had checked out every book on raptors in the children and juvenile section of our local library. Most of the other raptor library books were read only once and put aside. Not so with Raptor! -- there were plenty of interesting details for my son to soak up.We eventually invested in his own copy, which he still enjoys re-reading 2 years later. All in all, an excellent book for this topic and age group.

Very nice book for my son
Very nice book for my 7 year old son who loves raptors. Has a few typos inside. Like the speed of a perigrine falcon is not 100mph but closer to 200mph. Otherwise a great book

Great book, easy to navigate
My 11 year old son saw this at a little museum, and wanted it, but it was too expensive. It was way more affordable at Amazon. My son loves this. He refers to this often and can easily tell you facts of almost any raptor in this book.

Excellent, well designed book for kids!
Awesome book for kids interested in raptors or nature, in general. My 7 year old daughter and I flew hawks and are starting to study falconry. This is a great entry into basic facts with an eye catching layout and design that appeals to younger kids. She reads this without prompting and loves quoting facts. I recommend it!

Great Book
We live in Florida... so there are a lot of Raptors to see. I bought this to go with a pair of binoculars as a Christmas gift for my grandson. The book is written for a young adult (not child) which is good. He won't outgrow the book. Yet, it is loaded with information that any adult can learn from. Includes a Journal for him to record his observations. Glad I bought it.
