Wenger XE Tryal 612735, 15.6 Inch Backpack, 23 Litre, Black/Gray 20 x 31 x 44 cm

Just in case you didn’t know, since 2005 Wenger has been a subsidiary of Victorinox. The two companies both have a long history in the production of the world-famous Swiss Army knife. Given that brand heritage I had high hopes for this backpack and I’ve not been disappointed!The whole thing is strongly stitched together and feels like it will be durable. All three zips run very smoothly. Both the front and back section zips have neat, additional seals to keep out dirt and water. The zip on the centre section is more of a traditional zip but still works well.The back section has a large pocket with straps to secure a laptop up to 15 ½ inches, with an additional pocket which would be suitable for a 10-inch tablet. The middle section is without pockets, making it ideal for larger items. The front section has a whole range of pockets to keep smaller things organised. In addition, there are pockets on each side that would be suitable for water bottles.The shoulder straps have been designed to fit comfortably. The pads on the straps are ventilated and the section which fits against your back is also padded and ventilated adding to the comfort.It would be suitable to use in a business or educational environment as the branding is quite subtle. However, I chose it to use as a travel bag, as it is just within the maximum size for an under-seat bag on easyJet.On a final and positive environmental note, the outer fabric is apparently made from 100% recycled PET bottles.I could not be happier with this backpack, and definitely think it deserves five stars.

The quality of this item is quite apaprent when you pick it up. The stitching and seams are all done really well. The materials used have a durable and pleasant feel to them. There is nothing on this bag that feels like the manufacturer 'cheaped out'There is also quite a lot of attention to detail in the planning of this bag. the external open side pockets have a great elasticated cuff across the top that keeps the loose items you plave in there nice and secure.An insane amount of sub compartmentalisation has been constructed into this bag as well. No matter how particular you are about organisation there is plenty of option for you to have things where you want them. And each compartment has ample padding to provide suitable protection for large screen devics and items that you place within. There is even a set of stitched in elasticated straps to hold your laptop against the back of the bag so it wont rock forwards and backwards as the body of the bag expands and contracts under movement.Zips are very smooth and of a high quality. On two of the compartmnets the zipper seam closes over incredibly precisely to help with protecting against splashes getting through to the interior. Each of the three compartment zips has differnet construction though. The main compartment has the best in my opinion follwoed by the smallest pocket on the front and the middle zipper has no seam covering, not sure why they went with that choice. If I am getting protection I woudl have liked to have it on ALL compartmentsIt is comfortable to wear when packed, though admittedly these arent my favourite type of shoulder straps. they have some merits to them but I do prefer something more akin to the hiking backpacks I have, however similiarly good quality constrcuted laptop backpacks with thsoe types of straps tend to go for much more than this item.(The best thing about it is its the perfect excuse to go dig out my old Victorinox INOX Pro Diver Titanium watch with black paracord strap. They go together blindingly. (and with Wenger being a sub brand of Victorinox it would be rude not to pair them!)

The Wenger XE Trial backpack is a brilliantly made bag for laptops and plenty more stuff. I have used it as my sole bag for an overnight business trip and it works well for this.The outer of the bag is made from recycled materials but doesn't feel any less durable or appear less stylish for this. Inside a the slot for the laptop and a main compartment. On the front is an additional section that can accommodate up to a 10-inch tablet, though I mostly use mine for travel documents. On each side this is a compartment to take a water bottle and I found they each will accommodate a 1-ltr bottle. The shoulder straps are comfortably padded, and I found it comfortable to carry even with 14kg in the bag. It does have a helpful air flow section in the back padding too.This is not a cheap bag, but for the build quality, underrated appearance and great protection for computers and tablets for me it represents good value.

I have other items from Wenger and this is the same top quality. Slim and great for commuting and travelling. Lots of interior pockets and loops. Perfect.

Made by the same company that manufactures Swiss army knives this rucksack sturdy, well stitched and practical. It has two main compartments (one for laptop and one containing a number of pockets and compartments). In addition there are two external pockets that might be used for an umbrella or water bottle: although I am using one for instruction manuals for the five walkie talkies I have inside the bag. The bank is big enough to also carry charges, charging cables and for charging cradles. Along with these items I also have a spare antenna along with a rollable five foot antenna with five meters of cable. I am extremely pleased with this rucksack.

This is one of the best backpacks I have tried suitable for a laptop and certainly the most padded.I own a ThinkPad Workstation and this offers very good protection for a laptop, (although I will still use a sleeve). My 15.6" ThinkPad P1 easily fits inside either in or out of a sleeve.Plenty of room for a tablet too as well as generous pockets for accessories and other essential items.The hardware is all very high quality and the back is padded where it rests on your back (and also breathable to stop sweating)The first backpack I actually trust to carry my workstation in!
