Put this around my bedding plants but slugs & snails just slither over it, so should be renamed!

Early in the season, both in the greenhouse and in the garden, these pellets seemed to be affording some protection to young plants I'd put out. But later on, when I put dahlias out and surrounded them with these pellets (so many they made a solid mat once they'd been wetted) - the pellets seemed to offer no protection at all and my dahlias were decimated.This is the worst slug/snail season I've experienced in 50+ years of gardening, most likely a result of a mild, wet winter and a wet spring. It's certainly the first time I've seen whole clumps of daffodil flowers devoured. In fact flowers seem to be especially tasty to these gastropods this year. In a normal year (if there is such a thing) these pellets may offer better protection, but considering the expense of them I'd be inclined to try a small bag out on one or two plants before spending a lot of money on this particular slug defence.

I bought this as I had an Angels Wings plant being destroyed by snails. I followed the instructions and about an hour later lo and behold a snail was on its way up the side of the pot so I waited to see what would happen. It entered the area with the pellets and got straight back out. It moved around the rim of the pot and tried going in again. Again it got back out. On the third try it went straight across a good 15cm of pellets into the centre stalk. So I have seen first hand that this product doesn't actually work. Pity as it was looking good for a while there.Update - whilst there is the odd nibble at this plant it has definitely deterred the snails/slugs so I'm upping the rating

This product works and is organic. Would definitely recommend.

My dahlias are being decimated by slugs but wanted something non harmful to other animals. It's easy to apply and has formed a brown mat around the bottom of the plants. So far it looks as though The plants are now beginning to push through so fingers crossed. It doesn't look overly pretty at the moment and my dog is fascinated by it as it does smell when fresh out of the packet.

I really want to use natural pest control for the sling and snail infestation in my garden this year, so I bought this. Unfortunately my snails are bullet proof and this does not deter them, especially once it has rained and the wool then forms a kind of hard crust on the soil surface. I have seen the snails just sliming straight over it without any fear whatsoever. It looks ugly too which is a downer. Disappointed that I have to keep picking the snails off at night with a torch instead.
