Liquitex Professional Gloss Varnish, 946ml (32-oz)

My favorite varnish. It's easy to use, exceptional quality and it goes a long way. I got the Gloss one in the 32 oz bottle first, then I went with the gallon just because I do not want to run out of it. I have nothing negative to say about it. It does not yellow, it leaves a satin finish and it goes on smoothly with no issue.I know it's better to use the sponge applicator, but I use a regular brush every time with zero issues. I just wash the brush with warm water and dish soap and it cleans up well. The varnish levels up and dries very fast. I usually apply 2-3 coats, but lately I decided 1 coat is enough. More coats makes it look shinier.

I am a new painter who would like to protect my art work. This product is very essy to use, good price for the size of the bottle, and leaves a beautiful gloss on the canvas. Not very smelly while applying.

I use this product over my acrylic paintings as a top coat and it works pretty good! Check out my art page on instagram @liquidlandinding. This product drys within 3 hours and I suggest putting at least 2-3 coats on for best results. And make sure to clean your paint brush with warm water and soap right after you are finished. This is a light, extremely sheet somewhat shiny varnish. If you want something that provides a heavy extra shiny coat, this is not what you need. It spreads easily and dries fairly quickly. I use it on nearly all projects I make to give it a professional finished look.

The cap is broken, good thing it has a seal.Can't bother to send it back, so I'm trying to find a bottle big enough to pour it in. I think it might have been pack broken because the box it came in was padded.

This varnish makes specific mention of its protectiveness on acrylics, and every artist knows you can't paint acrylics over oils (although vice-versa is just fine). But I did an experiment and tried this over an old throwaway oil painting, just to see what would happen. What happened is that it gave a gorgeous varnish shine to the painting, and nothing else.I am convinced you have not seen an oil painting finished until you've seen it with varnish, and this makes the colors just POP. It gives it a nice, wet look, and even though it's "gloss" it's not so shiny as to be visually tacky. It's just bright.Be aware that this liquid is very thin, so watch out for bubbles if you brush too quickly. You'll need to brush slowly and use thin layers, not a heavy pool of it that's spread rapidly. I've found two layers works well, and it dries quickly, without odors or fumes like some varnishes.
