Something different from the usual car or plane
This plastic model kit is the first one I've done in years. I wanted to have a go at making something different to the usual car or plane that you can buy anywhere and as I liked the HG Wells story this seemed like a good bet.The kit contains about 95 unpainted plastic parts. It's not a difficult kit to make but needs care to make well, it has quite a lot of clear plastic bottles that need to be glued together and being clear if you get glue on them they look terrible. Some of the parts do not fit all that well and so use of filler and a good craft knife are a must.Unlike the standard exploded view Airfix kit you maybe familiar with the instructions for this kit are written out in longhand with photos so you really have to read everything to understand how to put it together.Paint numbers reference Testor paints which I believe are American and I couldn't find, this doesn't matter as the colours are available from other suppliers and of course you can paint it any colour you want. It does need painting though otherwise you are wasting your money. The model is not cheap and add the cost of the paints (I was lucky and still had most of them) and it will set you back up to £50 to make. If your used to high quality Tamiya kits you may be disappointed with the quality but this is the only invisible man you can buy.Overall I enjoyed making it and although I'm not the most skilled model maker I'm pleased with the result (it took about 3 weeks for me to complete) I've added some pictures of my efforts. If you want a change from tanks, planes or boats give it a go.PS I've given it 1* for durability because once made it is for display only
