Loctite 236382 4.8-ML. Form-A-Thread Stripped Thread Repair Kit

7/16-14 thread repair on tension side of an aluminum transmission case mount. Lower 8 of 12 threads were damaged. I do not typically us products like this and usually drill and tap to next size or heilcoil. Thought I would try this product as an experiment. Followed instructions but allowed re formed threads to cure for 24hrs. Rated torque on product for 7/16-14 fastener is 129 Inch pounds (about 10.5 ft lbs) Transmission mount torque spec is 35 ft lbs. Installed mount with 7/16-14 bolt and step torqued to 35 ft lbs in 5 ft lb increments. Bolt torqued to spec and threads held. May have benefited from using full length bolt and the 4 remaining good threads at top of bore. So far so good. I do not know if this product will still perform if the bolt would need to be removed and reinstalled to torque spec. Thumbs up for now, if it fails I can still re size to next size up for a M12-1.75 or heilcoil for a 7/16-14.

I paid $48 for the bottle of the release agent, the other parts of the kit are just epoxy. When I finally needed to use it the bottle had leaked and was completely empty. The cap was tight. A poor design from Loctite Henkel. Bottom left of the first photo shows the blue & red stain. I am past the return window and the auto parts stores don't sell this product. I have used it in the past and it worked as advertised.

I worked for Kodak for 32yrs. In an R&D shop you have times where you need a quick fix. Loctite product’s are the best.😎

I wasnsn't able to use this time as I was working on an Exhaust Manifold. I have used this product before and was very impressed with it. I will use another day on something else.

This stuff works great! Used it on my Volvo to fix the threads on the nut plates that hold the skid plate on. Highly recommended!

Great product.used on heater hose fitting where the aluminum threads stripped. No leaks

Unfortunately this product didn’t work. I followed the directions as described and tried it three separate times. I’m not sure if this product has a shelf life or not, but I wouldn’t even suggest trying this in on stripped thread on a motor. I tried to fix a stripped thread on my dirt bike where I drain the oil. I cleaned the hole with contact cleaner and dried it thoroughly, so I’m not sure what happened. Total waste of money and my time..
