Does this collar have a scent?

Yes, this collar has a very strong, overpowering scent. I don't know if this is harmful to my cat. I have left it out on the table for two days so far to try and lessen the strength of the odor. I have put the collar on my cat for a few hours at a time and take it off at night. All night my cat smells like the collar.

Question 2

Does the collar stop working as soon as all the white powder is gone? Or does the white powder only protect the pheromones?

The box actually tells you the ingredient is in the white powder. We cut these collars into four equal sized pieces. Once in half. Then down the middle of each half full length wise. Then insert one into a tubal wide shoe lace and sew on a quick release tiny buckle. 100 buckles for less than 3 dollars. The shoe laces can be hard to find so we cut open the stitching and reuse. But make all four collars at one sitting at the sewing machine. And if there is any bits of the white waxy residue we pack that onto the collar lace and store the three not used collars in the foil packet in the fridge until the first one needs replacing. We did try to use these collars the way intended but like others problems happened. Mainly they would bite the collar and loose it within just a day or two. The other cats would help chew on the treated cats collar too. The shoe lace method for us now 3 years plus using them...works very good. The first collar lasts 5-8 weeks. The second about a month the third 2-4 weeks and the last one approx 2-3. Seems there is a progressive half life going on here. But we've had as much as 5 months but usually 3-4 out of the one collar split this way. We froze a three pack and it says not to freeze. Though they worked they did seem to go faster. We know when a new collar is needed when the treated kitty starts crying in the night and clawing the all wood walls as well as the actually bad kitty starts to attack the treated kitty. The bad kitty doesn't do well with the collar or we'd treat him....but I like the collar without the scent and our kit seems to prefer that too. I know it's extra work and all of that but since we get such extended use out of it this way we'll keep doing it ourselves. PS make sure you don't buy tubal nylon webbing as if the cat scratches it it actually pulls the threads in a way the collar gets smaller and smaller...and the one time we made them out of that the first collar nearly chocked poor kitty. Also making your own and the plastic doesn't break up and fall apart like happens with this item without the laces. BUT Definitely the powder does contain the active ingredient...not sure why folks get that wrong.

Has this helped anyone's cat stop marking? I have tried the sentry collar and feliway diffuser and she is still marking 1-2 times/week.

Is the same as Feliway collars?  Just learning about this product.

Yes these are very much the same as the feliway brand. This brand has less of the potent lavender smell, however, which is nice.
