This is one of the best books I've read. Each chapter keeps you on the edge of your seat, tempting you to go on and turn the page. Also the lack of good & evil in the form of black & white makes appealed to me. Every character has shades of grey. Good people doing bad deeds, bad people going good deeds. Who do you side with?

glen cook starts this epic saga with a bang. A military fantasy thats grim and dark as it cac ever get. Filled with likable characters and wonderful setting, the story woven around the arm medic is a real treat for fantsy lovers!

Awesome epic. A must read for fantasy lovers. Perspective of an annalist is what makes it somewhat enjoyable. Story is dark and engrossing.
