Simple.. Viking heathen.. absolutely simply perfect
I love this knife I've already bought three of them. Soon as I pulled it out of the sheath it felt good in my hand. Perfect blade design and good quality Steel. On the belt loop you have to divide the two pieces of leather so it will get wider. The full Tang is great and I think it will last a lifetime but people out there keep a little bit of mink oil the blade.

Well balanced, dull blade
I'm super excited to do this review. This is one of my favorite products I've ordered on Amazon. Initially I ordered it for a gift, but when it arrived, I loved it so much I kept it (sorry, brother). The number one thing that is amazing about it, is the craftsmanship, The worst part about it is how dull the blade is. It's seriously so dull that I could probably stand on the blade and it wouldn't cut or puncture my foot. I included two photos at the end, one of me pressing my fingers on the blade, and then the small indentions the dull knife left. I'm not sure if it can be sharpened, or if it's just going to be dysfunctional. I'll try to sharpen and update.Pros:-Gorgeous craftsmanship. Each knife is different because they are handmade, and I love that.-Excellent balance, you can see in one of my photos that it balances quite well on one of my fingers.-Larger and sturdier than I expected. Seems like a very solid piece of steel.-Really nice presentation, with a sheath and a little sleeve thing to keep it in.-Excellent value for money-Seems very durableCons:-Extremely dull blade that you could probably park a car on, not sure if it can be fixed, and if it can how much work that will take.-The sheath seems a little too thin for the knife, and I don't think it will hold it for very long. The knife is heavy, and that sheath is just very flimsy. All in all, I will probably end up buying another one to replace the birthday present I blatantly stole.

Love it! If it were meant to be a gift, I'd end up keeping it, because it's just that damn cool!
Love it! Mine looks just like the one in the listing, arrived very sharp (be warned!) & very well packed. It looks just as wonderfully handmade & is definitely usable. The leather wrapping around the handle could be easily replaced, but for now, for my needs, it's just fine. Mine fits great in the thick, sturdy leather sheath (which has a wide loop at the back for a belt or such), seats well, doesn't seem to want to slide out.The very tip of the blade was very slightly curled/bent when I first received it, but I'm sure I can easily sharpen this out. It definitely didn't need any sharpening!I'm a female, with small hands, this fit great in my hand, had wonderful balance, didn't tip out of my hand at all. The entire knife measures 9 1/2" from end to end, the blade is 5 1/2" long & the handle is 4" long, with a nice meaty raven shaped pommel end, good for, well, pommeling someone on the noggin if need-be... ; ) It would fit on my standard female length thigh or calf very well.Daaxo Wares sent me a wonderful "thank you" email with "care & feeding" instructions" as well. The knife arrived in a natural cotton gift bag with leather drawstring & leather logo patch, plus a rubber molded blade tip/point cover, so, very nice for gift giving, but I'm keeping this one all to myself!

Not one solid piece of metal, but that's okay because it's still close enough to 'full tang'.
I bought this knife because I like bushcraft knives, Heathen stuff, and boars in particular and the price point was low enough and the reviews close enough to good enough that it was worth taking a chance on, and overall I am not disappointed. I do want to clear something up a lot of people are not realising. This is NOT one piece of metal. However, this product is not misadvertised with that. It tells you on the specs that the blade is EN 45 carbon steel and the handle is aluminum, this tells you that it is not a solid piece of metal. However, this is not a bad thing. The knife still counts as full tang. I show in the pictures where I removed the leather wrapping (which along with other reviews, I agree is kind of put on crappily, not a problem for me, as I'll discuss) to see what the handle deal is. The carbon steel part still carries WAY far down into the handle, and then the boar head piece is overlapped with it and bolted on to it as well as any wooden handle on any well made full tang knife. Could it break off? Sure, but it is no more likely to do that than any other bushcraft knife that would cost you over a hundred dollars. So, it's not one solid piece of metal like other reviews say, but it is full tang and that's all you really need to be worried about at the end of the day. The blade itself is thick and the metal behaves really well as compared to many other good bushcraft knives I have. I've tested it out and it holds up very nicely to limb chopping and wood splitting with batoning. That said, mine in particular did NOT come sharp at all. In fact, it seemed to have never been honed down to any edge in the first place. I see a lot of disparity in the reviews about this, and my guess is they have several different workers in their shop at different skill levels. I had a buddy that knows what he's doing basically grind this thing down to an edge for me, and now the blade sings with sharpness that I could shave with. Point is, this blade will take an edge, and it will hold it fairly well too, but expect the possibility you will have to put that edge on yourself, or have it put on, with equipment more hefty than a whetstone. Note that the pictures above of the blade are after it was reground. There was more patina on it before that (and also the first picture has a brownish tint to the ground parts of the blade, that is not rust, it's the lighting somehow). I detected no rust on the blade as some did in other reviews, but what I'll say to them, get over it. It's high carbon steel, that happens. It's not a defect at all. Once this knife is in your possession, it is your responsibility to deal with that with oil now, so do it, and don't complain. As I said above, I didn't care much for the leather wrapping on this, and that, plus the not coming with an edge at all, are why I took off one star. But I don't mind doing a few things to a knife to customise to my wants and needs anyway, so I'm not really mad about the leather wrapping. When I buy a knife, I expect that there will be some things that are not going to be what I want, and I assume I'll be playing with it a little bit. If you aren't like that, then you might want to find a different knife as far as the handle wrapping and edge go. I wanted to take the leather off to see what the handle makeup (that I talked about already) was like anyway. My final picture shows where I re-wrapped the handle with some bankline (I forget size), which now feels WAY better than the leather did, and now I have 20ish feet of bankline to use if I need it, win win for me. I also think it looks good, if possibly not as traditional looking as the leather. I just wanted to share that to show a mod you might like to make to yours if you get this knife, which I think is worth buying, if you don't mind that it's a bit of a fixer upper.
