Just buy one
I’ve been playing seven string guitars since 1999. And owned a lot of them. As is this is a wonderful guitar. The neck is just perfect. I’ve upgraded a lot of parts on mine to make it a super guitar.! But there wasn’t really no need for that. You can’t go wrong with this.

Nice Guitar for the Metal Fan
My Grandson loved it. It’s a beautiful gloss black and according to him it plays great. It was kind of cheaply packed but I didn’t notice any scratches or blemishes.

Does what it needs to do
The price is right for this guitar. It could probably use some new/better strings. It's a 600 dollar 7-string, so it is what it is. It's not going to sound as clean as a 1200 dollar LTD 6-string, but it serves the purpose. It's fairly easy to play and made to play heavy. I like having the multiscale for better tension on the lowest string. I had the money to go big, but i'm fairly new to guitars, so I went with something mid tier. I kind of wish I knew how a higher end 7-strings like the jacksons, ESPs, or Holcombs sound, assuming I could find a multiscale at least 27"-25.5". Don't get me wrong, I'm not disappointed by any means, but I'm not amazed by any means, either.

The pickups are massive, hot steaming GARBAGE avoid this guitar
Let me start by pointing out I have bought hundreds of guitars over my lifetime. I have spent thousands on some, and a few hundred on others. Cost is not always an indicator of quality. Ibanez does tend to be a company that provides more for less, and in that spirit, I bought this guitar to try out a multiscale neck. Much to my amazement and sadness, the pickups on this guitar are absolutely horrible. They are easily some of the worst I've ever received in a guitar, and I've bought Chibsons, knockoffs and even ancient pawn shop monstrosities that sounded better than this travesty. The pickups are flubby, tinny and so microphonic that high gain tones are nearly impossible. I gave it the ultimate test and played it through my Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier, complete with the required Tube Screamer in front, which usually gives the most sublime and pure heavy high gain tones with nearly every other guitar, and it sounded like ASS with this guitar. I tried my Marshall JCM 2000 half stack with greenbacks, also a staple for metal, and it was horrible. Even my Axe FX III couldn't bring this to life. So no EQ will save you here when $20k worth of the best gear in the industry wont do it. I also tried re stringing, adjusting pickup height, etc. These pickups SUCK. And being a 7 string multiscale, there are not a lot of options to replace, so this is going back to the seller, and I will be much more careful about Ibanez purchases in the future. It's really sad they'd put out such a guitar, which plays beautifully, and put ten dollar crappy pickups in it with no wax potting, no tonal balance, no sustain and horrible, tinny performance. For shame, Ibanez. And to round it out, one of the pots was broken, the volume. String height was random for each string and intonation was totally off. I can forgive setup issues, but I can't forgive crappy quality.

Wicked price point for a Djenty beast.
I’ve played a PRS CE24 for the last 20 years. This is my first 7 string and first multi scale. The transition was flawless…this is such an easy, smooth guitar to play. It’s not bulky or awkward like a lot of 7 strings. Playing fast has never been so easy. Not to mention the versatility of this beasts sounds.I did have to adjust action, intonation etc but mostly because I tune down a whole step. Easiest guitar I’ve ever had to set up. Neck adjustments are easy and accessible (no need to remove anything). I will be taking it in because the tone knob sticks a little when going from 0 - 3ish. If this thing weren’t so smooth and didn’t sound so good, this would’ve normally dropped my review down to a 4.For a $600 guitar that plays and sounds more like a prestige model, you cannot beat it. I always think the beginner should start with a six string and in this case I don’t think a beginner would fully appreciate the comfort and speed of this instrument - then again if you start with such a high end guitar, get ready to adjust your expectations down the line!

DO IT!!!
I have had this guitar 4 years. Alot of guitar for the money. If your wondering if it's worth it? The answers YES, very much so!! The price range is so low for this guitar. I have a premiere ibanez guitars and I have this and I'm not lying or exaggerating when I say I play this one the most because of how playable and smooth it plays and sounds. It feels and sounds like a high end guitar. These build have come along ways since the ibanez sledgehammer 7. Worth the money especially if your venturing into multiscale, 7 strings or both.
