Fantastic Ligature
The Rovner V-1R Carinet Ligature is outright amazing. I've started upgrading my clarinet recently so I've been trying to mix and match things for what works best for me (which is currently a green-line Buffet R-13 clarinet with silver keys, a Vandoren M13-Lyre mouthpiece, still choosing a barrel I want, and this ligature is now an official part of my setup). As seen in the photo there is a sheet of aluminum alloy that holds the reed in place. While playing the reed will expand or shrink and the aluminum will bend with it to make sure your sound is always top notch (there is also an interchangeable plate, and the ligature comes with a thin sheet that's about 1/2-1/4 a millimeter, and a thicker sheet that is 1 millimeter thick). The ligature is a bit spendy, but it's for a great reason considering the fact that it also keeps your reed right where you put it and will not move.

Great Ligature
My daughter is an above-average intermediate student who has been playing for three years. She had been playing a Selmer student clarinet and has just moved up to a LeBlanc Noblet 45. We bought the ligature to accompany the new clarinet, but she has been playing the Selmer with it too. My daughter's high school band director actually made her stand up in class to show everybody her new ligature. He called it an "excellent Rovner ligature". My husband chose this particular ligature for our daughter after reading many positive reviews and recommendations on this and other sites. She is happy with the ligature, noting that her reeds are working better. Before, she would go through more reeds and be less satisfied with reed quality. The ligature improves the sound of the reeds and therefore the quality of her playing. We're very happy with this purchase!

It Actually Helps!
I have always used the traditional two screw metal version on all my instruments (clarinet, sax, bass clarinet, etc.) and had always want to try one of these...not disappointed. Just what I needed...so I bought one for each instrument.

Excellent Ligature.
Really like this on my Bb clarinet. It holds the reed securely and is easy to use.

Love This Ligature!
I bought this Rovner ligature to replace my gold BG Revelation Ligature that I had loved and used through my music major years in college but cracked. When i bought a new BG Ligature they sent me one that didn't work (the gold part was uneven causing me to squeak a lot and not voice or articulate notes easily). In short I hated my new BG gold Revelation Ligature, and the place I bought it from had a no return policy. I wasted $50 on that thing. So now I've moved on to the Rovner brand. My only disappointment is that I waited too long to try this out. I love that you can adjust the ligature to make your sound brighter or darker. It works! Really nice tone and articulation with this lig. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a ligature that works consistently and predictably well throughout all ranges of the clarinet. Try it!

The Best I have Tried
I have tried several different ligatures over the years and this is absolutely the best I have used. It is easy to get the reed just right, very quietly, and it plays freely.

Excellent ligature...Price is great!
I've been using Rovner ligatures for more than 20 years...they always put out really good ligatures. I just got a new mouthpiece and didn't want to invest a huge amount of $$ to try it out...so bought the Star Series SS1R for the Dukoff 7 alto mouthpiece. It fits very well and I really like the playing response...very even timbre throughout all registers and also a very nice response from the bottom to top ranges of my sax. For the money, I don't think it can be beat! I prefer the Rovner VERSA ligatures, which I use with my Claude Lakey mouthpiece, but they are much more expensive. I plan to continue use of the SS1R, as it works well. Again, any of the Rovner ligatures are great choices for sax/clarinet!

Throw out your metal ligature
Rovner ligatures are so much easier to use than standard metal ligatures and provide a more and balanced even grip on reeds. Started using them for my middle school band students many years ago and haven't looked back. Ever single reed player should be using a Rovner ligature.
