Man Hunt: Small Town Romance (On A Manhunt) Paperback – December 2, 2022

I really enjoy Vanessa Vale books. I had fun reading this story! The opening scenes of how they meet and then the sex quiz are funny as heck. The instant attraction he feels and how he pursues her is a favorite trope of mine. Once they get together there is foreshadowing of romances with other people in future books. I'm delighted to move on to more of this series, and any thing else she writes! :)

‘Man hunt’ is the first book in the ‘On a manhunt’ series and also the first book that I read of the author Vanessa Vale. Let me start by saying if you don’t like a fast burn romance story, a dirty talker guy and steamy sex scenes, don’t read this book. But if you’re looking for a light, steamy, easy to read story where the guy knows at first glance that he has found the woman for him, then you should definitely try this book.The main characters in this story are Maverick James, a 37 year old billionaire and Bridget Becket, a 22 year old math genius. A bright future awaited Bridget at university in mathematics, but unfortunately her trust was betrayed by someone close to her who she trusted with her heart and body. Ashamed and deceived, she returned to her hometown. She took a job as an assistant at a construction company but her new boss was lazy and a fan of making sexist comments. But then Maverick James, her boss’s boss, comes to their small town to have a talk with her boss and from that moment everything changes. Maverick is intrigued by Bridget from the first look. He loves her clumsiness, shyness and her nerdy side. He doesn’t get mad when she spills her drink on him and he gets super excited when he finds a sex quiz from Bridget in his email inbox in which she describes all her secret fantasies. Bridget doesn’t know what to think of Maverick. Can a handsome, rick guy really be interesting in some so shy and young? Maverick does everything he can to show Bridget through words and actions that yes, she’s the one he has been waiting for. But just when he convinces her of his good intentions, a secret is getting between them. Will Bridget give Maverick a chance to explain everything or not?This was a light and funny story. The story was told from both POV’s. For readers, who are looking for stories where the guy is big and the female is tiny, don’t look further. Maverick is a very big guy and Bridget is tiny. So that made for some interesting and steamy sex scenes. I loved how protective Maverick was of Bridget and made her feel good about herself. Her looks, her intelligent and clumsy manner.Maverick is the oldest of four boys, so he had three younger brothers, Silas, Theo and Dex. There were some funny scenes with the brothers. The brothers liked to teased each other, bus they were there for each other when someone was in trouble. They were all large and male. I really liked how they accepted Bridget and made her feel comfortable. They were good guys. Bridget’s older sister Lindy was the total opposite of Bridget. I wasn’t a big fan of her at first, but the more I got to know her, the more I understood her and she was there when Bridget needed her. Bridget’s best friend Mallory was very enthusiastic, she had some crazy ideas but she was a very good friend, supportive and loyal. She was there for Bridget in good and bad times.I enjoyed this story and I will definitely read the other stories in this series.

A mistaken email and a klutz accident can bring Sixteen Candles romance to life. Maverick fell hard first after having iced coffee spilled all over him by nerdy Bridget. He imagined her for hours, until she suddenly walked into his conference room and he realized she worked for his company. Later that evening, Bridget completes a sex quiz and sends it to her best friend, Mallory, only to realize she sent it to Maverick instead. As she rushes to delete it before he sees it, Maverick is pacing back and forth realizing her fantasies and past experience. A few short days and it's insta-love!I LOVED this book! Didn't want to put it down. Such a great plot, easy read, and the characters are perfect. Maverick is the right amount of possessive and protective over Bridget, but also soft and caring with her. Bridget is a human calculator, thinking she has too much baggage. She has a crappy past that caused her shame and trust issues, which Maverick does a decent job in trying to help her overcome those (most of the time). His brothers are funny and I look forward to their stories.Man Hunt has a good amount of spice sprinkled through the book, along with a super cute corgi mix. Vanessa Vale's description of Maverick from Bridget's POV had me giggling and fantasizing. Mallory is an absolute hoot with her bold commentary. This is a steamy age gap, insta-lust/insta-love romance that is certainly worth the read.

Spicy and dirty but it lacked in the romance department and storyline. 75% through the book and I felt like I should have only been on the second chapter. It all felt rushed.
